I want Top Gear reviews like THIS ONE (but not in German). S11e2 was more like it with Scoob vs Evo, RS6 and CLK Black, all in one episode. I enjoy the cocking, but I want the car stuff too. They used to do it, so why not now ? I enjoy it, I want to continue to enjoy it, but they're spoiling it and I don't like that.

only bit i enjoyed was when Capt Slow went to finland, and Mika Hakkinnen explained why the Finns are able to produce so many good drivers
i turned over when they was using the engine to make a smoothy, thought that was disgusting

The gist of it is people are disappointed that the BBC has taken away an informative and mature programme about cars and replaced it with the kind of show a 12 year old would want to watch.
If the BBC had provided a proper car show as well then you wouldn't have anyone moaning at all. It's a perfect example of the general dumbing down the BBC have embarked upon chasing audience figures.

Not as dumb as it sounds, using plywood for a splitter. I think a few Pro Time Attack cars used plywood (painted black) for splitters last year as its light, strong and cheap to replace.
Very funny episode, loved the Avantime what a funky car!

Did like Capt. Slow in Finland - and what an excellent idea a for cheap race series: If someone comes up at the end of the race and says "I want to buy your car" you must let them. Briliant way to keep costs and overspending down
SIARPC was chronic - who the heck was the "me me me" personality-vaccuum? His history of car theft treated as though it's cool on a car prog wasn't the greatest bit of TV; both the other half & I thought "who's the arrogant kn0b?"

Thin is though (and I can just about remember this), was old Top gear was dismembered becuase of plummeting audience figures. It had boring presenters, with boring cars, and the same boring test route of a couple of A-B roads. Obviously now it's the total opposite, so IMHO having had a think about it last night, I prefer this format, but would definitely welcome back the days of 2003-2004 where there was a mixture of both worlds, but without the boring presenters bit.
But if I were forced to either have old Top gear or the most recent Top gear (this and last series), I would choose the latter - from an entertainment perspective. I would get bored of watching the old repeated format. Think that may be why they only did 30 mins a week instead of an hour now too.
Also... big boo to Wahlberg for trying to glamourise car theft, I think that was a little un-necessary, along with the potty mouth which seemed to shock Clarkson too.

Just watched it on iPlayer, so havent looked in here until now. Not my fave episode. A few things bugged me. I thought glorifying car theft was a bit wrong too and whoever editted the avantime laps wants shooting. Did anyone else see the original seats back in the car after they'd taken them out

I'm not saying go back to Wollard and Mason. But in a car programme you'd expect a review of cars would you not? When they do review a car (what is it down to, one every other episode?) it's normally something in the region of £250,000; hardly useful to most people.

Think the programmes focus is that of exotica, something to entice the audience, which most will never own a piece of said exotica. I think that's their angle, but I would certainly favour a return to where they review the hot hatches and sporty saloon cars too. The Fiat 500 Abarth was a good example - more of please
