Why arent you using E85 / BioEthanol ?
Old fuel pump as good as new. (upgraded for more flow now)
Fuel lines as good as new.
Rails were spot on (now using parallel rails)
O-rings were as new.
In short ... no issues at all.
I am running 100% E85 now (rather than the 20% and 40% mixes i previously had run) and have been for about 7 months with no issues (apart from slightly harder cold starts)
I think I will still run a meths mix rather than bio as its more hassle to buy for me! I still fancy a 20% meth mix which would equate to say a 40% mix if you went with bio?? and a lot more hassle for fill ups as far as I'm concerned!

So,what were the power gains over your old 20% mix mate?
Theres one question id love to ask.....ive never even seen an E85 pump but guess they look the same as any other...but why is/was the worry about having a low ratio mix when any old dorris who knows nothing about cars could just put this stuff neat into her car?
Surely not everyone knows about mappping etc,so how come our cars need/needed a safe ratio?
Sorry,proberbly a stupid question,but dont know much about this subject,so any info is very usefull......
Im using a mix of e85 but thinking of going to meth just cos the e85 is so hard to get hold off> the filling staions dont like you buying a large quantity in cans and the nearest place is 60 miles from me> i can get meth delivered in a drum
100%...thats interesting.

E85 pumps are blue at Morrisons but there is underground news that Shell will be doing it soon and widening the availability.
Everytime you fill up with E85 the kiosk ask if you know what you are putting in as they had a lot of incidents of people not aware that there was a difference.
You require more E85 to go into the engine than petrol so just filling with E85 (in whatever ratio) is going to be leaning it out. As std the cars come from subaru running fairly rich but it doesnt take much to put them too lean. My move to 100% e85 required much bigger injectors and pump but running 20% mix seemed to be the ideal compromise without changing too many things - just mapping for it.
As far 60 miles being an issue. My nearest is 45 miles away. I fill the car and 2 x 20 litre jerry cans with no issues at wellingborough, ipswich and norwich.
If shell are going to start doing it that would be ideal if ones near to me lol
Power gains - I have no idea but feels good.

Im having a solaris put in the car in the new year running either a T or twisted 30 set up...so are you saying,i could get one of my maps done by simon to be a 100% E85 and have no issue's at all?
That takes a lot of mapping and set up so don't expect that to be a very quick mapping session. Solaris makes for a great ecu for multi-fuel useage.
If Simon is doing your mapping then he would probably be best placed to answer how he would set it up for you. On my own Solaris I map mine to have 2 maps for 95 ron (for long distance motorway type journeys low and higher boost), 2 for vpower (low and high boost) and 4 for E85 mixes (2 at 50% mix and 2 at full strength each with a mid boost and high boost)

The reason for all the questions is to decide wever to E85 the T or buy that twisted set up and go with V power.
My STI8 block wont take more than 500 ponies really so just trying to decide between maxing the T or running the 30 on more of a subtle fuel....

Max the T with meth instead, easier to get hold of than E85 round your way. They deliver meth in drums to your door.
Your get bored of the lag from the 30 mate. The T is an awesome little turbo, remember how fast angers was when you went in it

The smaller turbo on e85 would be quicker that the 30 on vpower if both ran same peak power as the t will spool earlier but when you get bored you could run e85 on the gt30r! Lol
Sti8 block will take more than 500.
Ran an open deck block at over 500, that semi should take much more.

Dont know if you read my post on 22b but i have recepts for a 2.2 stroker but also for a 92.5 reliner....will this mean my block is weaker than the standard 8?
Anyway all lump info is on 22b......
Yeah,i hear what your saying regarding the semi...lots of people get away with more(Aaron is a good example) but Altered carbons failed.
The 6 speed will give a bullet proof box...just wish i had a cdb.........
....for peace of mind if nothing else.
Interesting,mine must be a 2.122 then.
Cant understand this though....i have recepts,for the following,but also havea recept for machining and fitting a liner to the block after reboring to 92.5mm. Why would i need this liner? Cheers
STI Version 8 block
* Engine stroked and bored out to a 2.2l
* Long stroke 2.5l billet crankshaft
* Omega 92.5mm oversized pistons and rings
* Steel Arrow H section conrods
* Modified Uprated Big End Bearings (inc. mods to con
rods)
* Baffled Sump
* Steel multilayer Head Gaskets
* ARP Head stud conversion kit
* APS Front Mount Intercooler
* True 3 inch Nurspec R cat free exhaust
* APS Cold Air Intake (located in inner wing)
* GT II spec Tubular Headers and Up Pipe (unequal
length and wrapped with heat wrap)
* Walbro uprated fuel pump
* Uprated fuel pressure regulator
* Uprated fuel lines (with parallel fuel rail
conversion)
* Uprated breather system (with oil catch tank)
And yes,altered was running a 2.5 but cant remember if linered.

yes it was a linered 2.5 block.. so ignore.. not relavent to your engine.
is this the Autosportif engine? the one I mapped on a GEMS on the type r you bought?
all coming back to me now.. or not if I am totally wrong.

i could be tempted to have my car mapped on this stuff, or atleast a good mix.
any issues running a stronger % mix with v-power at all ie 50/50? is 100% e85 too much for use on a road car do you think?

Think ill be getting a 100% map...

E85 is about 16p a litre cheaper than vpower around here but you use more of it so it will cost you more in the long run.
However it makes for a very cheap power increase when mapped for it (which it has to be).

Have just posted this question to Contact Us - Morrisons :
Hello,
I would like to buy E85 fuel but your nearest stations are about 60 miles away. Would you consider stocking E85 at Cambourne or Royston?
Regards,
Worth asking; if you don't ask you don't get! Try a similar query for your local area...

What a topic, read all 11 pages!
I'm living in Ireland, and travel from east to west twice a week.
I pass 2 maxol stations that sell E85.
With a completely standard car (MY 05 STI EUDM), if I run Maxol E5 which is a 5% mix and 98/99 octane the car runs great, if i run that for a full tank, then fill with RON 95 and try and boot it straight away, the car goes into limp mode, and i have to plug the 2 wires under the steering wheel together for a few miles, then unplug and the problem doesnt occur again until i've run a full tank of E5 through and switched back to RON95.
What sort of learning does the ECU do?
Could i put 5L of E85 in along with the RON95 to stop this happening when i can't get E5?
