I always try to park at the end or next to the trolley hut thingys just to reduce the chance of damage, but id park next to a Impreza if theres on there.
My Grandad parks over 2 bays in his Jag, but he buys 2 tickets (if its a paying one)

saying that why dont supermakets invest in barriers? i know asdas have lanes which double up as paths between rows of cars but why not barriers between every single car space? lol
and yes i understand that that would be really really expensive but i suppose it would only be a decent idea for the busiest supermarkets (rather than your local pub)

Similar experience ?
I had a transit van with a cosworth engine in it .
I parked between a nice bmw and a late alfa .
When i came back both the bm and alfa had been smashed up by vandals and my shed was untouched.
A lot to be said for parking next to nicer more expensive cars than your own.

I always get ppl watching me pull into the parent child space and then seeing them **** off when I get my 2 kids out the back - it's not SO bad with the Scooby but when I had a Black and White FTO with CF Bonnet etc they used to start coming up to the car then see me get my daughter out and do an about turn!
I usually park at the end of a row - only the chance of one door hitting you! I always try to park next to another scooby but only cos my kids want me to! lol
The wife just rolls her eyes

now u see, theres a very good explanation for this.... people just dont understand the concept of opening doors and reversing straight back....
i think the bbc should do a full documentary on teaching people how to OPEN their doors PROPERLY and how to REVERSE in a STRAIGHT LINE!!!!

I always take up 2 spaces but I also make sure I'm a long way from the entrance to the shop too otherwise that would cause a bit of a stir.. I've had one old boy leave a note on my car before now telling me i need to learn to park my car, I watched him put it on, I told him its because of old gits like him that can't park at all that I feel the need to do so and as I don't have to pay to park in Morrisons if I want to take up 4 spaces I will! But would I park next to another scoob, oh yes most definitely..

Got my GB270 in April this year. Parked next to another GB270 owner. Safe as houses I thought.
WRONG the one and only dent I've got on my pride and joy was from his wife opening her door onto mine...DOH!!!!

I do most of the tricks mentioned when in the Impreza and I don't care if people dislike me for it:
a) I sometimes park in mother and child although I'm a single bloke. - It's not illegal to park in those spaces (you can't get a fine like disabled spaces), and if anyone complains you can just say you're picking your wife and child up.
b) I sometimes park over 2 spaces but not obviously - i.e. Park at an angle over both spaces as it just looks like you're lazy not doing it deliberately.
c) I park next to much more expensive cars that are more likely to attract thieves and less likely to ding your door e.g. Porsche's
d) I usually try and find a space as far from the Supermarket entrance as possible (so people don't squeeze trollies past your car)
e) I'll always park next to another Subaru if there's a space next to one.

i suppose if you park next to any real driver's car, if u park on the drivers side then thats 1 door your safer with haha
tho then u just worry about the car on the otherside and if the car is a 4door then u worry about the rear door haha theres just no winning.

This reminds me of the time i arranged to meet my wife at a hotel. I drove into the car park in my company car and saw my Scooby where my wife had parked up. The space next to her was empty so i drives straight in thinking i would only have to worry about leaving enough room the other side to prevent any accidents involving the opening of doors.
I got out of the car and opened the rear passenger door to get my lap top, and the door blew against the Scooby leaving a small ding.
My wife still reminds me about the incident to this day knowing how careful i always try to be

Take the doors off and just do a straight swop .

lol ill always park next to another scoob, not just the safe side of it but more to maybe have a chat if u catch them when u return
I hate carparks and know how bad some drivers can be especially bless them oaps.
i work part time @ a bingo hall and have to share the multistorey with 40+ oap vehicles, i make sure i get there very early and in one of the higher levels as towards the start of bingo the attendant at the car park will chain off the entrances to the higher levels, leaving mine and a few parked up with no1 else entering the level But as im walking down it does shock me at how many of them take so long to park and how much they rev when moving! lol countless times iv witnessed them all reversing a dozen times and still hitting other parked cars, it makes me feel sick thinking that could be my car one day!

I park in wide spaces for families at the local Tesco's.
Where I live I've had my other car (Micra) run into 5 times in the space of two months, one of them was a police van... the car was parked, but they still felt the need to check my car all over, give me a breath test, take all my details and didn't bother giving me their insurance details etc.
I use the Micra to block my WRX in, that way I know that at least one of the people blocking my driveway is me!
If I park anywhere else I always avoid parking next to family cars and old fart cars.

I park in parent and child but iam always with my 2yr old boy . i sometimes sit in the car while the missus does the shopping and watch people leave trollies anywhere. one lady in a jag decied the back of my wrx was a sutiable place for her trolly so i wated for her to return to her car and carefully moved it to rest behind hers to stop ger reversing. funny she didn't seem to impressed

i allways try parking near a scooby but if i cant find one I park near the most expensive car, that way your car gets treated with more respect and you know you wont come back to a nasty dent in your door caused by uncarelessness!

Back on topic my three year old daughter would want me to park next to a scooby if she spotted one as she loves them

i had my wing mirror knocked off my old 182 right in front of my eyes in alton towers car park by a child 'kicking' her door open. also watched a man use an old (minted looking) Jag as a stop for his free wheeling luggauge trolley at NCP at Glasgow airport. theese of course are only a couple of examples of which me and a few friends (fellow car enthusiats) talk about or exchange stories on on an almost daily basis. it seems to be like an epidemic theses days
also i will park across two spaces, mother and child (sexist??) and disabled, though i find the more space you give someone the WORSE they park!

I also take up 2 spaces in mine. But I always park right out the way where no one else is, so it's not like I do it right out the front of the shop.
I've also wondered in pay and display car parks is there anything to stop you parking over 2 spaces as long as you purchase 2 tickets???
