First put the key in, turned to Igntion 1, pressed accelerator full down, pressed demister twice. I heard the contact's of the demister......but didnt feel any difference in the car?!

if I remember correctly you wanted the car done sooner rather than later and I happened to be in the area that week but said it would only happen if everything went okay and as planned with the other cars already booked in who had waited the usual waiting time rather than 3 or 4days like it was from the time you contacted to the time I was in the area..
As I remember it I was still out mapping and no where near finished with still a 3hour drive home ahead of me so txted you as soon as I knew it was not going to happen.. I can only appologise, I thought a txt was better than continuing mapping and ringing you very late or stopping mapping to ring you when I was focused and part way through the task. I work long hours and late into the evening but I will not cut corners or rush to get a car finsihed or squeeze you in unless there is adaquate time.. Sorry it didn't workout on that day that I had time free at the end of the day. It is just unpredicatable with what m,ay come up.. some days I could have easily done another car and still finsihed early and others I am still finishing off in the early hours.

Unfortunatly I am sure it is the same for all other mappers.. it is no good having someone else answering the phone dealing with enquires as the enquirer wants technical questions answered understandably and as much as I have tried I cannot get my wife to understand enough to be of any use with regards to technical questions beyond what colour your car is therefore I need to answer the phone.. but I just can't map and talk on the phone at the same time, I do answer when I can and return answerphone message.. if I allocate time to talk on the phone then I'd get less mapping done and the waiting list would be longer.. cannot win.. as has been said with regard to contacting Andy, email is often best.

please accept my appology Finchyboy

it has to have been mapped using a switching rom.. if it was not mentioned when mapped it either wasn't or there wasn't one available for your car.

it is purely full throttle and the on press of the rear demister that toggles the boost tables, but if it not setup with the necessary rom file it won't work.

Oh right I see. No key turning needed etc then? Just one press to turn to high, then another press to turn to low?

I'm not sure as I bought the car modded, so not too sure. When I can afford a new turbo, I will be getting a remap anyway, and will hopefully use yourself1

Thanks a lot

I have the map switching on my wagon on the demister button. Best way to do it is to be in 5th gear, full throttle (foot to the floor), press the demister button twice (0.25 seconds apart, i.e. nice and controlled) and that will switch the map. Pressing it just once will just toggle the demister on and off.

You need to ask for this feature to be 'installed' at the time of the mapping.

Richard.

Its pretty much as Simon has said, time availability to answer the phone.
Unlike Simon however, I have absolutely no intention of mapping into the small hours !! I only ever map cars during daylight hours.
In the evenings I try to avoid being at work so the phone is usually on silent. If I knew in advance that it would just be a quick call then I would pick up but I do get some really drawn out conversations which go on and on and on.

Emails/PM's on the other hand can be actioned whenever I have the time, as opposed to having to stop what I'm doing. Generally mapping/tuning specific calls can't be answered accurately by anyone else, this is one reason I spent so long filling my website with information that helps answer most questions.

cheers

Andy

Still doesn't quite wash with me there are people who in the trade that do as good a job as any of the mentioned "illusive" specialists. offer great customer service and more importantly communication and simply deserve the business a lot more.

Its not on all cars I dont think, The first time I had my car mapped, it was the 2nd "Version 9" Andy had mapped and at that time ECUTEC had not released the twin boost profile map or the launch control for my type of ECU but when I went back to see him a 2nd, and a 3rd time they had therefor i now have these functions on my car.
It is possible your car may have been mapped before these functions were released for your ECU, or the previous owner wasnt bothered or didnt require the different functions and didnt have them mapped in.

Im not an expert on mapping and this is only what happened in my specific case and dont know if it was even an option on MY99 - 00 cars or even the "Bugeyes"

The demister function works when you put your foot flat to the floor when you are driving and double tap the demister (just to make sure, and to return the demister to what you already had it at), you will either feel the boost being cut, or an increased accelleration. If you have a boost gauge you will be able to see it on there too. On my car the full boost map is to 1.55bar and my limited boost map is to 0.9 bar

Graeme
