Fly out to Cairo on a day trip (5am start back 10pm ish)
If poss go on FRIDAY (their Sunday)..makes getting around Cairo by coach 500% quicker and u get more time at the musium as a result.
Petra also a great day (coach trip from Sharm to Tabba Heights..then ferry to Aquaba and 2 hour coach on to Petra..) I prefered Petra to the Pyramids... no agro from locals..no begging... friendly people..highly recommended!

The wife and I are off to Egypt in a week, for a week long all inclusive stay 
We've never been to Egypt and don't know anyone close to us that has. We've had some jabs from the doctors but would appreciate some general advice about getting by in the country and what to do/not to do.
For example, if we leave the resort area are there any local customs with regards to 'covering up', etc? Can I walk around with my Scottish ******* out?
We've got some Egyptian Pounds but we've heard they like to take other currencies too - is this the case? Our stay is all inclusive (food, beer, the lot) so how much money should we take for a week??
We are also interested in trying scuba diving so any advice on that would be appreciated.
Also, what's the best advice with regards to tipping and keeping people sweet, etc. Any advice you can give about how best to get by would be welcomed.
