DIY 550bhp 2.5 STI V3 Type R
The egine is in the car, all the turbo pipe work is on. I have to say the new RCM rotated kit is far far easier to fit than the original one was. I was dreading doing that because on the last kit it was a pig to do especially on your back with the car on axel stands.
I had it all fitted and bolted up in about 25 minutes it's about the only thing that hasn't fought me on the car this time round
I have following left to do : the exhaust to fit, radiator mounting bracket to fabricate (the orginal mounting plates got cut away when I went for the front mount turbo), bumper to fit, headlights to fit alternator and belt to fit and finally bleed the brakes
Then I need to fill with fluids, prime the engine and then turn the key. I'm expecting that to be Saturday morning. Here's hoping

Good news and bad news today.
The good news it runs and sounds like its going to be a lovely engine.
The bad news it only runs for 3-4 seconds at a time and then dies. It will immdiatley start again but only for 3-4 seconds. The process repeats itself and so far I havent a ferking clue why. Totally and utterly stumped

Yeah, or could be a fubar'd FPR?
Or perhaps a totally clogged fuel filter - perhaps the initial priming pressure from the pump on restarts is enough to overcome the clogged filter for those few seconds, then the clogged filter subsequently doesn't allow enough fuel through?! Stab in the dark, really.
What about a temperamental crank sensor? Bad earth from it?
'Tis a strange one for sure.

Simon to the rescue
Dodgy Cal switch which had defaulted to my anti theft cal.
After some text advice from Simon I plugged the laptop in and changed the cal position in the ecu. Turned the key and she barked into life and kept running
Just a small fuel leak to sort in the morning and i can get some miles on it.
Happy days

Syvecs has an 8 position cal switch option so you can have 8 map options.
I often set one as an antitheift and so that if the switch is unplugged it defaults to that setting.
I presume during the resent mods the calswitch has become unplugged.

Nope, it's on a UK 5 speed just to get some miles on it. Speaking of which It's just done it's first ten around some local B roads. By'eck it feels sharp. Coilovers are mint, brakes are going to be superb judging by how they are out of the box. Couple of minor niggles to sort and i can get some proper miles on it but all good so far.
I won't be doing any kind of hard driving on this box it's purely to get some miles on her over Christmas.
The Coil overs are BC RM (the inverted ones). They have 8kgf springs on the front and 6kgf on the back and they feel just right. After pottering about in my Golf for the last year I'd forgotten how raw a modded Scooby is. Time for some more miles.

1 bar of boost and 6500rpm within in first 25 miles no gently gently this time around.
I have to say though standard crystal lights are fooking shyte. It's back to the Morrettes ASAP for me.
