No I'm worried about oil being forced up the drain back pipe into the catch can due to crank case pressure.

looks great !!

Interesting sump design. How does the oil get to the bottom of the sump under the horizontal plate welded in there - are there slots in it.
I assume this is a better baffle design than the old design vertical plates with slots at the bottom.

The sump is completely standard. The plate is from Cosworth, it's not welded it's just placed between sump and block.

The oil travels back to the sump via a series of rubber "trap doors". These are flaps that allow oil back to the sump but wont allow oil the other way.

Neither this or a baffled sump completely stop surge but they do reduce it.

I fitted mine as I wanted to try and stop oil leaving the sump on hard launches. It do9es that job very well.

I was on the right track in my first post then lol. I wouldn't of thought it would make a great deal of difference if you have it low or higher surely.

Thanks for the reply Daz
I didn't get the opportunity to look in my sump so assumed it was just an empty case - didn't realise that there was another horizontal plate in there. I have the Cossy baffle plate fitted, but again didn't get a chance to see how it all went together

Keep up the awesome build

Bit of a naff update bit it was needed none the less.

When the car failed the weather was proper crappy and the roads were caked in salt. The bare TGV delete housings had began tofur up with corrosion so I've tidied them up prior to reassembly

No it's not. I used that on my previous build and it seemed to never dry properly.

I've used some proper enamel this time round.

After a bit of a shall i throw the towel in dilema I've decided to keep the car and finish it to its potential.

Massive thanks to one of my sponsors Chris @ CDF Racing who has kindly sent me a set of variable cam pulleys and a set of lightweight engine pulleys.

Glad to hear you're going to finish it Daz - looks superb.

You'd probably regret it had you given it up without seeing its new potential.

What an enthralling read its been. Phenominal effort.

You know it makes sense Daz, you've put too much money time and effort into it not to finish it off.

Best of luck with it
