Update:

I managed to spend some time on it last night, not as much progress as i wanted to, but progress is progress.

Basically collected the block from Chy, and then set about getting everything ready for the heads to go on.

Hit a snag in that one of the new head studs would only wind into the block so far, the other 5 on the LH head would all bottom out easily, where as this one, was some 9.5mm short of bottoming out.

I did ask for the threads on the block to be checked and cleaned as i wasnt happy when i removed the previous stretched headstuds. It seams there was an oversight here.

Anyway after over an hour of faffing out with a fine pick and winding the stud in and out, progressively further, it finally sat at the same height as the other 5.

So, I left it with the left hand side head on, torqued up and ready for the rocker covers to go on. The heads have been redone by Paul at zen, with new Supertech valves, and reshimmed for the new cams.

Steve has pictures he can post up, i had my two little helpers with me, so excuse some of the quality and lack of progress.

It is an ACT clutch and it has been faultless. Until work picks up I'll just have to stick with it. I ordered another one from the USA to cope and work with my pressure plate. It supposedly can handle 650lbs so I should be ok and it was only £180 delivered

Thanks Steve,

I am considering one of these before I have to pay silly money for twin plate.

I already had an ACT clutch but with a heavy duty pressure plate, my clutch was only good enough for 550lbs which I didn't think would be sufficent. There are Xtreme pressure plates you can get with the same clutch I have and it increases the torque load to 720lbs but it then says the pedal feel is hard whereas with mine I don't think its too bad. I originally bought my 1st ACT clutch from a trader on NASIOC

No progress yesterday, too busy at work. Probably no progress tonight either
Ordered some parts on Friday and yesterday, so fingers crossed they should arrive today, then i can finish the long block build, and get the engine back in.

Some late nights coming up towards the back end of the week!

The last I heard from steven it was either maxing out my injectors or my fuel pump and was only making 544bhp @ 1.75bar. They worked late on it so I don't know if they managed to get any more???

Just noticed this picture in my phone. injectors are maxed out!

did you not have to run the engine in before having it mapped.

The car was run in on the dyno, it had only had new rods and bearings so its not like it was a brand new rebuild???

Steve, picture on its way.

It had new rods, ebarings and rings. We run it in on the dyno doing roughly 40 ish miles mixing load etc, then oil change for better oil, and start to push it. This is the way i prefer to run engines in, running in softly, i think they are more at risk of oil consumption IMO.

Steve, you had better learn to hold the steering wheel good and firm, this is going to be an animal on the road. I think you will have full boost way before 4000rpm.

Huge thanks to Paul for the late night dedication to get it right for the circumstances.

Bigger injectors needed.

Steven

its the bosch 404 pump and they are 740cc deutchweks injectors. Its just a pity they have limited the cars power. But I get to drive the car with 50 of each more than what I had before and in a month or so I will get to drive it with another 50 of each more
