I have just got the bonnet back from the bodyshop, so will be seeing what it looks like when fitted on the car and decide if I want that or standard. I'm also stuck between reverse scoop or my scoop for this bonnet ??

A quick update of how the car is doing, Looks like I should check the water on the car a bit more often, as you can tell by some of the shots of the pistons Steven said when he emptied the radiator there was about 3ltrs of water in it The head gaskets were gone/going! So I picked the right time to get the car stripped

Thats just my opinion that the head gasket had gone. Considering there was only about 3 litres of coolant left in the engine, its got to have been going somewhere.

There were no other apparent leaks anywhere, and the crap/smell of the bores suggest there has been a funny mix going on

I also think the head studs for 2 and 4 side have stretched/been over torqued as they were extremely difficult to remove. Especially when compared to the 1 and 3 bank. Again this could be a cause of the head gaskets going.

I am taking the block to Chy this weekend for his inspection, as he wants to do some R&D on it, so it will be interesting to see his feedback.

I have just been speaking to Chy and the engine is virtually all finished. The new parts were all supplied by Lateral Performance and Chy has said he wants nothing for his labour as its all part of his customer service I have always said the customer service from Chy is 2nd to none He is going to send some pictures of the block and when I get them I will post them up

Steve,
What was actually wrong with the engine, if anything, when it was stripped?

There was nothing wrong with it, He just fitted my new rods and put some new bearings in as well. Thye block is like new again He has kept my old rods as he wants to take some measurements and weights from them to see how they coped with big bhp

Fai17

Chy actually said that he spent more hoiurs on the engines than he charges for
