Prosecute or not?

I am not qualified to comment on whether his parents might be prosecuted.
I have to say that I think that going down the path of euthanasia could be a dangerous thing to do. My comments are nothing to do with religious teachings let me hasten to say, but I feel that it could develop eventually to either be expected as mentioned above, or even worse, to a government decision when one reached an age where you cannot work and can only exist on a state pension, then you would have no choice but to be sent off the the "Happy Room" for a final journey.
This may sound far fetched, but with what we see from politicians these days, I believe that nothing might be impossible in the future.

Oh come on I thought you would have got the point of my semi light hearted post.
There have been quite a few comments on here about the assumption that folk in wheel chairs are mentally deficient. I was just pointing out that one of the sharpest minds in the world belonged to someone confined to a wheelchair. A harmless enough post? dl

As for the all too popular assumption that all folk in wheelchairs are mentally deficient I can confirm its well and truly alive and kicking.

His poor parents certainly shouldn't be prosecuted in my opinion.
One of my friends younger brothers suffered exactly the same fate in a scrum earlier this year; he is dealing with it with his families assistance. It's impossible to judge the situation, its all down to the individual in question.
I know I wouldn't deal with paralysis very well and would take the easy way out but wonder how my parents\family could deal with my death any better?

Without sounding awful too, MS is progressive, not a bundle of fun all the same I'd imagine though, where as Tetraplegia is instant. So whereby both cases can warrant the same debate at some point, I do think with MS you get some time to continue a 'normal'ish' life.

I am pro life and believe the old saying that while there is life there is hope.
I do not expect that his parents will have any prosecution brought against them. That would serve no good purpose.

At present it is illegal to assist although that in itself needs clarification. At the moment the CPS sit on the fence for quite understandable reasons. dl

Also as I said yesterday in post 74 the parents have effectively been cleared and that is the end of the matter.

Luke, just to clarify, Dan, as discussed here, wasn't a 'vegetable'. His mind functioned perfectly normal only his body didn't due to spinal cord damage.
