First of all the Subaru's gauge meter is not very accurate apart from full and empty.

But assuming you were basically empty with a £60 fill (of which should be V-Power or equiv). £60 at £1.16 a litre will be 51.72 litres. 4.55 litres per gallon (Imperial), so you have 11.37 gallons from your fill.

186 miles (assuming you drove it down to the point where you last filled up from) from 11.37 gallons is 16.36 mpg.

That's a fair way from 10 mpg. The needle is not accurate and to make an accurate sum you need to be a little more cunning and measure always from the same point. You'll see from my first post that I get 16 to 24 depending of road use and how much loud I want

simple accurate way is to fill the tank till it clicks off, then run your car as you would do normaly. Say when you have 1/4 of a tank left, use the same V Power fuel you filled up with till clicks off. Then you have litres used to miles driven convert this to mpg job done.

An increase in engine knock - but that's another thread, or search.

I am sure if you start a thread asking this and use normal case instead of all caps you will get an answer

Back to topic...

25mpg on normal mix of driving
30mpg on a really calm motorway run
15mpg if mapping

60 miles to a tank if on track.
