i made the mistake of being drawn in by tescos cheap quotes, unfortunatley i found out the hard way that they are cheap coz they are ****, they need to focus on selling spuds and bananas as they certainly dont do good insurance cover, only good quotes.

Mate - if your Scooby is modified, I'd recommend you go with KM - going with A-Plan you will likely get peanuts if you write the car off as they don't do new for old replacement on mods. Just an FYI. If that doesn't concern you you may find A-Plan more competitive. HTH

Every year i juggle my insurance between km, flux and a-plan.

A-Plan came in the best this year and i have it in writing that all mods are covered like-for-like....

all mods declared inc remap was £530 or 560 but this then entitles you
to half price trackday insurance and it's a like for like on parts
thats with the misses insured aswell.

I was recently having a lot of trouble finding insurance cuz I've now got 3 points on my licence for a TS10 (running a red light), and I always declare my mods. My current insurer (eCar Insurance - Welcome to eCar Insurance) wanted £652 for renewal this year with mods declared but no points on my licence, but with my 3 points they wanted £992!!! I hadn't been able to find cheaper than that anywhere. I spoke to Gary at Keith Michaels cuz everyone on here seems to think he is a god lol....but he said he'd ring me back and never did ahh well. Anyway, ended up getting a quote with Norwich Union for £692 with the 3 points & mods declared. Not bad! I'm 26 with 5 years no claims, been drivin for 7 years.

Weird tho, cuz when I first tried to insure the impreza when I bought it back in 2006, I paid £730 with eCar Insurance - Welcome to eCar Insurance, and Norwich Union wanted £1,837!!! Insurance is the most random thing ever!

daredevil - have a look at the small print just to make sure.
I was told by the sales assistant I spoke to that your mods are covered like for like IF and ONLY if you are involved in an accident and the car is not written off.

In the event that the car is written off, I was told that you'd get the value of the car if it was sold with the mods on it and NOT like for like.
Could you check your T&C's and let us know to settle this?

well norwich union quoted me happy lol. Im 30 4 years protected no claims on a 96 wrx £600 fully comp, my wife as a named driver, and shes only been driving 2 years.

tried to get insurance on a type r and all quotes seem to be around £2000. I wouldnt mind but I'm 26 with 5 years NCB, not had an accident in 7years aswell as having experience of performance cars. Hows that right!

KM will be cheap, but generally most of the specialists want you to have driven a performance car for a year before you drive something like a Scoob - so if you're currently driving a festa better bend over

tip for you younger drivers...

my dad had an sti fully insured .. no wya i cud get insured on it at the time.. however my insurance was fully comp with drive other cars third party extension. lol so was good i got to feel boost for the first time at 18

just note , third party cover is ****, so if u stack it, expect a beeting from ur dad as he aint getting nothing back
