Just looking through my old P1 pics and noticed how much the engine bay had changed.

From when I bought it, the guy had spent 6K on mods at TCL. One reason it looks so nice today is that it was looked after by a true P1 owner. (Top Man).It felt really quick when I first had it running at 310Bhp.

Went rotated on the Turbo.

Engine looked lovely but Header Tank, Steering Fluid Resv' and Washer Bottle needed replacing to compliment RCM's work.

Opted for Spec-R parts because I believe they go really well with RCM.

If only it would look like this The RCM's Gobstopper

SPEC-R ?

In a nutshell:

Hand built (watched mine being made), prices cheap for the quality, and committed to providing a top service. (Top man) and a nice fella.

10 this weekend for sure, made some little changes this weekend that will make a difference for sure. As for 'package' no rush mate.

I was speaking to Matt about this on Sunday at Brands. Will wait until RCM move in to their new place. They are having a rolling road installed.
Should not be too long Banny.

Dover: down the bottom of Kent ..... long trip for you now, & short trips for me
Only kidding, RCM's new premises will be only a few miles from their current location.

Referring to your comment on the Gobstoppers NOS system Joz, yes, it looks so nice.
The whole car looks more like a show car opposed to a competition race car that is used often.
Road legal too!.

Ref carbon prop

Guys

I had one on mine for a short time and am sure that it made quite a noticeable difference in the speed of acceleration in the car. I didn't compare performance at all, so it was a subjective comparison.

But I'd say go for it. Just be sure the prop doesn't touch the centre exhaust box, or it may snap

Thanks for that Terry.
Surely logic suggests that the general rotation of the trans will run more freely or would another part of the transmission somehow prevent or "hold back" any gain from a lighter prop

Won't sleep now

The main purpose of a carbon prop would be its extra strength and the fact that it's a lot less inert than a stock - steel? - item, due to the fact that carbon fibre is c.30% lighter than steel for the same amount of material used.

So yes, being less inert, it will accelerate more easily, so should aid in quicker 1/4m times, and the car should feel more responsive to throttle inputs. Similar principle to having a lighter flyweel - the less the rotating mass, the less inert it is, and the quicker it will accelerate from a resting state.

Rich (Redline Mag staff writer) emailed me today to confirm this Saturday for the photo shoot.

The P1 is having a joint main feature with Marti's P1.

Matt Clark refers to our P1's as "sister cars". They share many parts and the engines were of the same design.

Difference:

Marti's is now a full race machine for the drag strip. Race fuel, stripped but still looking nice.
Mine has retained as much of the P1 as RCM could manage, and this will be the theme in Redline. Drag car verses Street car or something on those lines.

The location of the shoot will be revealed in Redline.

It's not Santa Pod

(thank god)

It's a real fast machine but has big traction problems. When Marti sorts that he will be in the 10's I dare say

Is Marti's car a 2.1 litre running EJ20 CDB with a stroker 79mm crank?. I had a quick look around your car at Silverstone earlier this month, stunning car.
Have you ever been tempted to run a larger rotated inlet manifold with a better flow pattern?.

MMmmm not sure ,will be on race fuel for next round.
just need to get gearbox fixed ,its coming out next 2 weeks and having a trip down to A.P.I.

Problem is car will be quicker with race fuel but will have more problems with grip.
I was wheelspining in 2nd gear going down the strip with the back of the car coming round also had tyres screeching in 4th gear at over 100mph ,
got some 15" Mickey t's to go on but dont think i will have them in time for the next round

I only know of Marti's car from off Scoobynet and though it was a 2 litre the same as yours until I read an earlier post by yourself. I was suprised it was a stroked engine as I though Matt Clark prefered to use the original 75mm stroke crank on the 2 & 2.2 litre closed deck blocks to keep a higher rod length to stroke ratio.
Is a Cosworth inlet manifold one of the things you have in mind?. As it's difficult to find area's in which improvements could be made on your car.

To be perfectly honest Marty I hope we all move into the 10's, what with Dazzas new turbo being mapped Saturday and my swirl pot going in, allowing the boost to be turned back up to 2 bar plus, we should all have at least another 50hp next time round. Whether that will be enough to make the .2 difference we need remains to be seen.
Keep in touch with how you get on at Pod if you run again prior to the next event and I will see you there.

Martyn
