And Skull's burger run Sorry mate could not resist. I must add this was his first ever run in his car since he got it back.

Must say Clive (MH) that the gear changes sounded on the ball you are so close to sub 11.00's. I assume that your running quick shift, new driver-train oil with help make the change a tad quicker. Every 100th now counts.
Looking forward to seeing your first sub 11 vid. Keep up the good work.

Skull see you got the time down loads from this run. How did she run especial bearing in mind that she wasn't created for the pod. You may not be buying the burgers for long.

No quick shift on mine just a straight 6 speed, Oil is new as only done 2500k since build. I was pleased with yesterday, just a shame I was not running normal boost @ 2.1 bar. What I did get right was launches, I found turning the duty right down for first gear allows me to get away with no issues. My gear changes have really improved too, glad you not noticed Car is really consistant now, yesterday I ran 11.6 on the first run taking it easy, then 11.2, 11.0 & 11.0.

Hi Skull

I will talk with Olly, but probably wait till after the car is mapped before I make any changes clutch wise, I will be in contact if I do swap

my car will be mapped in 2 weeks

its a shame RCM haven't got their rollers sorted yet

Time now (Monday 3.30pm) and just returned from weekend !!!

My engine developed a problem last week as mentioned earlier in this thread. Throughout Sat at the Pod it was getting worse. Up to Silverstone on Sunday to meet up with RCM whereby they were going to address the engine prob with a fine tweak from Motec Dave.
Dave jumped in & plugged in and set the motec so it would adjust itself regarding fuel delivery to the engine.
Was working ok once we left Silverstone with a steady drive home (off boost).
Got to Junction 5 on the M40 and the car was running so lean it sounded like the beach landing scene in "Saving Private Ryan".
Called Matt & explained the prob and he offered to come & collect us (91 miles away) and trailer the P1, with me and a friend Dazzler. I told Matt I would try the AA first and managed to get the AA to come out and after a two hour wait, then took us back to RCM arriving at half past midnight!

Olly & Matt greeted us & helped get the P1 off the truck, then drove us to an already booked & paid for Hotel & Breakfast.
Matt was on the case at 7.30am stripping the brand new "Bosch Motorsport Pump" from the RCM Anti surge kit, then exchanging it with another new one only to find the prob was still there. After a while Matt found a faulty Map Sensor to be the problem, which confused the Motec800 into thinking that the engine was over fuelling, thus running too lean.

Olly collected us from the Hotel the next morning informing us that the car up & running. Matt mapped the car to 98% then arranged a session with Dave Rowe at the Motec HQ in Adderbury to finely tune the perimeter between negative vacuum & positive boost.
Drove over to Dave then we were back in business.

A big thanks to RCM for the way they conducted there services after a busy and successful Time Attack at Brands.
With minutes to go in the final session at Silverstone the Zen team broke the lap record, then in the closing minutes Olly knocked nearly a whole second off Zens time to win the event. A fantastic effort by both teams !!

Madhammer: great times at the Pod matey, and a big thanks for posting my 14 second run you Purv , you could have put up my 12.4 run (that included a 1+ second bog on the line !...... I'll get you back for that one matey
Clive I could not collect your bit as I had no room in my boot (suitcases etc from Sat night). Olly is bringing the good to Brands in 3 weeks mate.

Sy: good time matey and glad you enjoyed the burger .

Morbs: hats off to you fella for your 9.8 run in the afternoon in your wagon.
I dont think Sy was aware of you beating your 10.3 time.

WRX Rich: ok mate, I will wait to hear from you regarding the clutch.

SteveBT: really pleased with the car and performance. The power delivery is SO smooth and continuous. I agree the car did look awful so in the vid that Madhammer posted but once it dug in it felt much quicker than it looked.
I only had two runs as the car was stalling every time the car stopped. It was really hard on the starts as I was using the handbrake & rpm to prevent the stalling, no launch control and was the first efforts at quick launches with the new triple plate clutch & 500+.
With a perfect launch there is a fast time lurking in the P1 bearing in mind I am not running any additives or race fuels.

MartiP1: was nice hooking up with you & your family and another shiny P1

Daz Davis: Great to finally meet up with you fella at Time Attack. Good luck with the birth of your little one and your new rebuild.

Great weekend !!

Thank goodness for honorable service and true Gentlemen in Matt and Olly.
Too many might have given you the line "nothing to do with anything we've done"
Glad the fault is all corrected.
Have to praise good customer care well done the Clarke Bros.

Cheers Skullfudge, I wasnt aware of doing a 9.8 myself, marty mentioned to me that he had heard I done it, and then next time I heard about it was yesterday from Fud. If I had then Ill be over the moon but Im not sure.

I wanted to have a look round your car but didnt get chance, being stuck in the queue all day.

Ginge I believe Madhammers good lady saw your time, or it may of been Eureka.s Suzy, I cant remember who told me now, .....Fudge <---- now thinking the times may of been misread by someone and you ET was 98 mph ... only kidding.
I was watching your wagon and it certainly is a fast machine.

I would expect nothing else from them

these are the guys that built my car, then on the first service decided to swap the turbo for the very latest model (which was not avaliable at the time of the build) at no cost to me. If your car has the RCM logo under the bonnet they will make sure it is nothing but the best

Hi Marti.... no pinking or detting mate.
It was fine until we started to climb a huge long hill on the M40. I felt the car slow down a little and put my right foot down slightly (only about 10mm) and there was no response, just banging & popping. Steadily became worse over the following 100 Mts or so until it sounded like WW2.

After another 200 Mts I knew something was seriously wrong somewhere and pulled over rather than damage the motor.

Nothing was damaged.

By the way Marti did you achieve additional grip or a better launch after softening the EXE TC ??

"Skull see you got the time down loads from this run. How did she run especial bearing in mind that she wasn't created for the pod. You may not be buying the burgers for long."

now that would have been bad.

To be honest Hugh I was well pleased with that 12.4 because I realise how much time was lost on the start. The first 10-15 Mts seemed like it took an hour, then it took off.
Steve is right in saying it looks so slow on film. Bearing in mind I have done a 11.3 in Sy's car, my run still felt quick.
That launch lost me a shed load so I feel sure there would be a low 11 in the car.
And with better tyres, fuel additive/map, launch control and the suit cases removed from boot, the old P1 may be responsible for getting me fat from all the burgers that Madhammer keeps buying me .

Glad you got the car sorted Clive, spot on service by RCM.

Sorry about the vid mate I could not resist, sorry we did not get your 12.4 as we left early, I will give you another chance to beat the old RA but your will need better than low 11's to beat the old thing 10's are a coming.

Lets get a date in the diary all, Saturday 4th July ? (this is the only RWYB in all of July at the Pod)

Nice one clive. I've seen the map sensor problem once before, seemingly random failure of the motec unit. But you can't knock the service provided by Matt and Olly, which is well beyond the call of duty, hope to see you down the pod soon! I may have to take the green car for a blast!

I did soften the EXE-TC but still had problems with grip ,car felt a bit down on power on the strip ,think it was the heat.So pretty happy with the 11.6 ,still think there is a flat 11 in the car ,just have to keep trying and hope it comes sometime this year.

Paul, just glad the motor was not damaged.

Regarding Olly & Matt, I could not have wished for a better service, and I totally agree with your comments.

Be good to see the green monster on the strip !
