Bought an Apple Mac system, very bad idea.!
Spent two weeks transferring all business and personal items over and got that fed up with it I launched the thing down the yard.
Internet provider change resulted in a week off the net. New hub arrived & spent 4 hrs trying to get a connection. Phoned Daz DaviEs & was online in about 43 seconds cheers mate.
Now set up again on new PC system. Brand new keyboard specializes in whacking the letter "e" 93 times before it does anything, lost 139 "favourites" (websites) and I've got a broken paving slab thanks to an Apple Mac landing on it. Other than that I've had a blinding week
F1CJ: and was good talking to you mate.
Sy: agree, MH's power is fantastic on a great budget, and thanks for a great day thrashing GTR's & 370Z's around all day at Silverstone at the expense of Nissan. Top day.
Mneame: Project 2, I just need to get everything sorted out before I spill the beans soon.
The conditions at Elvington must have been spot on for so many pb's and large margins.

Being able to do more than run one without breaking a shaft, which is the benefit of the surface at elvington which provides grip without using glue, hence a much more consistent track as you launch.

Hi Paul, I understand what you mean and I am certainly not doubting you comment, however I never realised that such a massive gain could be obtained by the launch surface. It leads me to wonder why the likes of Santa Pod go to the trouble of "preparing" the start line, (unless they are catering more for the high end pro teams who never seem to have breakages other than the engines).
Having witnessed 1000's of runs over the last 30 yrs of being a spectator and seeing teams jumping up & down on the start line when they have just seen there driver beat there pb by 10th's or even 100th's of a second, it obviously seemed a massive margin.
Interesting.

Hey,
P1 feels better by the day. The new tyres are different to the P Zero's and now worn in. Have not had a chance to see how they compare at high speed but will do at a full open pit track day in 2 weeks time.
My brakes feel uneven?? not sure what's going on there. I would still feel a lot more confident without the ABS. I may disconnect it for the track day. Never have liked ABS.
P2.
Although very little has been mentioned in this thread to date there is a lot going on.
I am just waiting for some options to be returned to me regarding several matters. I don't want to post any news until things are positive mate.
There may be some meetings required between parties to produce a plan and it's then that I will post up the full picture.
P2 will be more informative as I realise the interest generated from P1 has been fairly big due to 100,000+ hits.

I don't think there was a gain at the launch, the 60ft times are not that much better. What I said, is that clive was able to do more than one run, the last 2 times at the pod, he has broken shafts on his 1st run, so we haven't seen the gains that have come from more power and flat shifting. Had he not managed to break it so easily at the pod I suspect we would have seen 10s back then.
The surface at the pod can go one of three ways:
1. **** prep - usually at RWYB days when full of chavs, sometimes they make an extra effort depending on the cars running
2. Good prep, but lots of FWD RWYB cars wrecking the first 20ft by sheelspinning with crap road tyres.
3. Good prep, good cars that don't wreck the surface, then you get big grip.
You can easy break stuff with situation number 2, less likely but possibly with 3 due to sheer amount of grip available.
When you watch a proper RWD car run with a burn out and torque converter or slipper clutch, you are seeing something completely different, they are set up not to spin the wheels, but get some controlled slip that will not put the shockloads into their bigger beefier rear axles. Without any prepping the track would be dangerous for a serious drag car. The underlying surface is completely different to elvington's concrete, it needs to be prepped and looked after to get any real grip.
Are suggesting that due to the PBs set at elvington, that it was a fluke or a problem with the timing?

To be honest (before owning my P1) I had never really focused much attention to 4WD cars on the strip mainly because in the larger events they are very rarely seen.
As you mentioned regular RWD drag machines use T Convertors and with the faster machines multi clutch setups and I have always been lead to believe that the idea of burning out the rear tyres serve 2 purposes, generating heat in the tyres and to use the laid rubber as an advantage for grip.
No I am not suggesting the times were a fluke as I have been following Clive's modding with you in this thread and I would feel sure the other guys have been working hard on there cars too.
As for the setup of the timing equipment, regulations & monitoring of, one can only assume it's as reliable as possible.

UPDATE:
Project 2 (P2) will have it's own designated thread rather than carry on in this one.
Will be finalizing bits and pieces this coming weekend and the new thread will be commencing shortly.

Yes, Andy advised me a couple of months ago that it will be sale at the end of this seasons comps, and I seriously thought about buying it.
Serious piece of kit.
The only reason I didn't buy it was that fact that it was a known car, and it will be nice for a total new car on the scene.

Can't wait to hear what you have planned.
