Just wanted to publically thank Richard for organising this - top entertainment!
Don't think I've had my **** out in the wet so much in ages!
Nice to put some faces to names too; especially to meet Rich Askew & Mel after various chats on here.
Cheers all,
Steve (one of the Flying Fatboys!)

Thanks once more & I want to go back to that track again Just started to dry out as my sesh finished
BTW - all them large yellow trucks & trailers at your office - all will need signwriting/painting soon What's that cost?

Puff - Pushy you - no not at all! Like you say, people just needed reminding that there were two lanes to the left of them that they could use!
People must have done a double take with the two of us going past - I'm sure some of them thought I was you and wanted to gesticulate at me!
BTW at one point all three lanes were taken up one Green Wagons - OK one was a Sport, but still nice to see.
PS about the key ring!

Top day, Richard (BH). Very many thanks. Superbly organsied. I think we all know how much work goes into making days like this happen and it's gratefully appreciated.
A shame we couldn't do the full Jordan factory tour (I'm amazed they even agreed to it in the first place!). Maybe next time? That would be quite excellent
Even so, Hoppy Junior and I really enjoyed getting our noses inside the 2001 car in Jordan HQ's reception. It was just like the real thing - apart from no engine, no brake calipers and the tyres were on the wrong way round! Carbon fibre is miraculous material, and that Honda V10 on the stand was such beautiful engineering. It looked like it could drop into a Scoob no problem.
Luckily for me, I wasn't needed as a 'spare' driver. Lucky for Junior, too, or I'd surely have had that fastest lap off him Nice signed poster by Alesi and Trulli. Super memento.
Many thanks again, Rich.

Just got back after a really good run back up the A5. Got 180 miles out of 1/2 a tank of Optimax
Nice to catch up with some of the usual suspects at karting and at the pub - I'm still stuffed now.
I'll hopefully get my film in to be developed this week, so should have some blurred images to show by next weekend.
Chris.

Thanks Richard for a great day. The karting was excellent!!! Our team All Torque finished and impressive (I thought!) 6th - given we had 8 driver changes and didn't have our own race overalls!!
A few pics of the day.

Great day out....thanks for organising it...
Well done to everyone at the Karting especially Team Weave who came a deserved 2nd.. Puff, Neaderthal & Mike did an excellent job
Congratulations to the guy who did a Kamikaze outbreaking manoeuvre on me going into the right hander by the pit lane entrance and ended up in the tyres....I laughed for a least 3 laps...
Well done to all the ladies who had a go, takes a lot of courage to do it for the first time (Karting that is )
Cheers
Jeff

What a great afternoon out!
Many Thanks to Richard for organising the day, and hopefully next time we could have a look round the factory.
A Big thankyou to my team aswell. Lee, Dave and Zoe did a storming job, especially Zoe who knocked an impressive 14 seconds off her qualifying time when she got out there during the race! Nice One!
Great to meet up with faces old and new.
Cheers
Matt

I am very unhappy to say that the Jordan factory tour is now off.
The reason for this is that there will be an EJ12 (the 2002 car) in the factory having its sponsorship livery put on, and being readied for the official launch later that week. This means that the marketing department and two very senior guys (not EJ) have retracted their permission for this to go ahead, as it is too sensitive a time.
Myself, I'm gutted by this, as I was really looking forward to taking everyone round the factory.
It's not a complete disaster - we can go into reception, where there is an EJ11 from last year, so everyone can have a good look at that one, take photos, etc (not get in it, sorry!) So you will all get chance to look at and touch an F1 car, indeed an identical one to that which we're using for some of the testing this week out in Barcelona.
Also, I've decided not to issue name tags as the only time we'd be wearing them would be while at Jordan - at karting it would be too dangerous, and by food time everyone would have taken them off anyway!
So... the event is all still very much on, but with the tour now limited to having a nose around the EJ11 instead of around the factory itself.
Because of this, here is the new timetable etc:
=========================================
****************** FINAL DETAILS ********************
Programme of details:
*********** NOTE NEW STARTING TIMES **********
- Sunday 17th February
- 3-4pm : Meet at Jordan Grand Prix headquarters, opposite Silverstone track, a few miles south of Northampton. Chance to look around the EJ11 in reception, take photos etc.
- 4-4:30pm : Head over to Whilton Mill karting centre
- 4:30pm : 2 hour Endurance Kart Race, including free bacon butties
- 8pm : Off to The Mill House pub/restaurant near Daventry for food and drinks to celebrate/commiserate (optional)
The day is getting official Jordan backing, with a report to be put on the Jordan web site and probably J magazine (the fan club mag) and a regular internal Jordan newsletter.
All in all, I reckon it should be a fantastic day - pray for nice weather!
For directions to Jordan, either use the postcode (NN12 8TJ) in an Internet map site (e.g. Streetmap), or basically follow signs for Silverstone circuit on the A43, a few miles south of Northampton. The entrance is exactly opposited the main Silverstone track entrance - you can't miss it.
For details of Whilton Mill (karting), look on their web site.
The Mill House pub and restaurant is a big pub/B&B on the other side of Daventry, with plenty of parking spaces and a large restaurant area which we will take over for the night (so I'm promised) It does a wide variety of pub and restaurant food, so it should suit all This place is now booked for 50 people but we should be able to accommodate a few extra on the day if any spectators want to pop down for the afternoon's karting and food. Menu to follow as soon as I receive it...
I have put everyone in a team now. If you don't like it or want to swap, just drop me an e-mail and I'll move you elsewhere.

Anyone else is very welcome to join us for any or all of the day's proceedings. Food shouldn't be a problem if you want to come along for that.
The weather
No doubt the British weather will conspire to make it a cold, windy and wet day, so I'd like to suggest everyone brings several layers of warmth! The Jordan base is very exposed and most people will be outside for much of the time. The karting track is much the same so bring your Subaru jackets Also, I'd like everyone to wear (light) blue as I'm going to try and get Jordan guys to wear yellow race suits. Creates a bit of rivalry
Hey-ho, think that's it. Once again, note the later starting time, get some team names to me and... well... see you there!!
===========================
Once again, I'm extremely sorry about this. If anyone wants to drop out and get their money back, then drop me a line. I hope everyone will come along anyway, but I'll quite understand.
Richard
