Cars I can think of which are not only classics but set new bench marks;

Mini Cooper

Mki/Mkii Escort

Audi quattro

Lotus Carlton

Latest Skyline (judging by the reviews)

Yes, definetly the Holy grail of the Nova. Almost unheard of and a very special machine, even if it is a Nova

Fiesta RS1800, MkV XR3i or Orion 1.8 Ghia with the rare 130bhp RQB engine, as most 1.8 zetec Fords had the wheezy 105bhp RDAs. Also an unheard of derivative outside of known circles.

I believe the Opel Monza GSE (or Vauxhall Royale) deserves a place here, especially the one with the digital dash and the FF 4wd conversion.

Not to forget the Jensen Interceptor "FF" the holy grail of Interceptors.

Fiat Tipo 16v? LOL if you're into Fiats I'm sure that was a souped up 1.8 or something.

Having driven and modded Clios for a long time, I suppose the first ***** in mint condition or an old Clio Maxi in Monte Carlo slaughtering trim. Renault Sport Spider?

A late Merc 190 Cosworth as mentioned above, I think the Evo 2 version. Evo 3 E30 M3 is an obvious choice too.

Metro 6R4, 205 T16, Sport Quattro etc etc

it was a 2l with 150bhp

Autocar rated it above the Escort RS2000 and the Astra GSi iirc

mclaran F1 longtail. Only three roadgoing versions in existance and makes the shortail look like a limpwristed abortion.

I had one for a while.
Dodgy electrics meant you could never be sure it started but if it did it was a hoot to drive. Engine & handling were first rate.

The golf rallye had those small box arches that actually looked like a home made bodykit, a rare car tho and didnt they only come in left hand drive?

Lancia Stratos...really nuts looking and designed for only one thing Rallying

as for capris what about the RS3100

Porsche 924 Carrera GT, or, if you can find one, a 924 Carrera GTS.
C-GT

C-GTS

More realistically a 1988 944 Turbo SE, or perhaps, an extremely rare, LHD only, 944 Turbo Cup.

Wasn't that what they used for the 'Climb Dance' film at Pikes Peak? Obviously it was covered in wings and airdams but basically a 405 T16?

The Pikes Peak 405 T16 was a rally car (like the 205 T16). The roadgoing 405 T16 was a 4door saloon with 4wd and a 220bhp 2 litre turbo engine. Wheels look like Mi16 but are 17" I think.

The 405 T16
