It's been a very cold August, I'll have you know!!

If the gadget in question cost you 4.4 billion, it'd better have you bouncing off the ceiling within 2 seconds, or Anne Summer's is going to get a very angry letter...............and they're not in the best books after not responding to the complaint about the broken **** beads I sent back about a month ago.

I imagine I will be bouncing off the ceiling quite quickly although I'm not sure whose ceiling on which continent, or even which planet

Why didn't they save a wad of cash and just use the ready-made Circle Line as quoted in the article? "Mind the Blackhole!"

Isn't one of the boffins involved with this someone who used to be in a 90's pop band? Someone from D-Ream or something like that??

(Just like someone to confirm they retain useless information the same as I do )

About time they made a comeback then like every other band of the era. They could update the old favourite. How about "Things can only get sh!tter"?

The original was Blair's anthem. My updated version could be Brown/Darling's next election song.

Just a thought but it's my birthday on the 6th, only four days before the end of the world, so if you want to send me your presents a bit early I don't mind, it'll give me a bit longer to enjoy them

Your powers of deduction don't seem to live up to what your user ID implies.

Its American/computer date format: 9/11 = 2008/9/11 or 11/9/2008 as in Sept 11th

Nice to see the religious types working ever harder to prevent scientific progress through peddling ignorance. What have they got to fear, other than the loss of superstitious thinking?

Yet I think the scientists are funnier than the religious boys on this one.

In fact,I bet God is laughing his socks off at this attempt
