That is correct, but you do need to make sure that the amp has video upconversion (this means that all input signals are capable of being output through hdmi).

You will also need a scart to component converter lead to connect sky+ to your amp. It might actually be simpler to connect the sky+ box directly to the tv via scart.

I had the 605 linked up to some Kef 2005.2s its a lovely combo. If its your first home cinema system you'll be blown away!!

I now have a 875 and am awaiting my new speakers!!

I actually ended up buying this amp in the end from sony center as Richer Sounds did not have it in stock.
SONY STRDG820-BLK at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

and linked them with these
ONKYO SKSHT518-BLK at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

Took me all day to re arrange the room , but spiderman in True HD = Awesome

even the missis loved it

My telly came from there

Noticed they were amongst the cheapest last night. That amp's been dropping about £50 a week so when it goes below £400 I might jump in

Recently had a bad experience with Sound & Vision. I'll never use them again.

Yes, a big mistake by Sony, otherwise I would have bought one! The Denon 1909 seems to be the favourite choice at the moment, but it's £450.

I don't whether I'm reading your post right, but were you connecting the Sky box to the receiver via HDMI and optical?

If so you should've connected via HDMI directly to your panel and then sent the optical to the receiver. That's how I had to do it with my Pioneer, even thouhg each input on there is assignable.
