AJ, you missed my point...
The "...word 'Coswoth' peeking out..." is the equivalent to when you 'accidentally' cop an eyeful of an attractive lady's upskirt e.g. when getting out of a car (hence the photo).
The actual bird, herself, was not the salient point being made.
As Richard Hammond commented upon glimpsing the triple SU carbs peeking out from under the louvres of an E-Type's bonnet... "That's **** in theeere!"

I'm a breast man myself. The "upskirt" is of course interesting, but too fleeting for those of poor eyesight...

Hi alan i curently have a type r v4 2.5 on 2.0 heads ,, sai if i wanted 500 bhp , would it be best to forge this block or use my old 2.0 block from the type r?? As this 2.5 had bottom end rebuild 10k ago , acl bearings nitraded crank etc , ,the 2.5 feels more torque than the 2.0 cos just pulls in eny gear even tho im only running 340+ bhp ,, but eny way best bet for 500bhp?? 2.5 that i have or a 2.1?? As a fast road car, and would a 6speed from a new age take that power ??as ive been reading the type r close ratio box wont be up for big power

a) What would you charge to upgrade my widetrack 2005 STI's engine to a 2.1 stroker, and
b) How much improvent am I likely to see in spool and torque on the billet SC42 I'm running now?
I'm honestly not that fussed about making huge power increases as for me, once it gets going, the car is plenty quick enough now (she's running around 430/385), but I'm interested to see quite how much difference to spool and torque the additional 0.1 would make. Toying with the idea of reverse inlet for the spool reason, but I've heard a few people say for the cost vs gains it's not worth it.
If you have any graphs would be grateful if you could post them.

The 2.5 is fine if seeking high torque. Forged pistons helps, that's for sure. The 2.1 comes into its own at high rpm's or if seeking to improve on the EJ20 block.
The 6 speed box is as strong as they get, assuming the one you buy is in top order! There's some manky ones floating about out there now of course.

The price of rebuilding tends to vary of course relative to a stack of detail!
Are you seeking a full "drive in drive out"?
We find a pretty much instant improvement with the 2.1, pulling better even off boost. Of course the effects of a fresh build of the heads would be felt right away, plus we take the trouble to peg the compression ratio, etc.
The SC42 has worked really nicely with the 2.1, although we haven't yet fitted one with the AVCS, leaning more towards the SC46 on those cars. There have been a few minor changes with the SC42 housings lately, intended to further improve spool up, so adding up all the variables, looking at graphs won't help.
I think I can say confidently that a properly built 2.1 would be a healthy improvement on your current 2.0..

Interesting to hear you're leaning more toward the SC46's, I'm surprised to hear the extra 0.1 makes that much difference, but I've heard that Scoobyclinic have been doing some work on the housings to improve spool.

Drive in drive outs are around the £5K mark all in, including RCM oil pumps, ARP studs, full balancing etc etc. inc vat.
