As an average yes it is I agree. Just always laugh when I see the mpg threads. The turbo does actually help fuel economy at certain speeds. Don't ask me to explain this ffs!

It's still under warranty as it's only just 10 month orld, i'll give K T Greens a ring tomorrow and see what they say.

As i keep saying, this thread is not a "how can i get better ecconomy" one, it's a simple "is it broken or not"

06 STi - Standard, 250 miles to a tank, mainly around town and 300 miles on a long run at steady speeds (ie. off boost). I would get yours looked at, something isnt quite right.

how are you actually calculating your MPG?

the way to do it is fill the car to the top

before turning the engine on at the pumps reset your trip counter

then the next time you fill up make a note of the milage covered and then the amonut of fuel required to fill the tank right to the top again.

then enter the details in here

Just because your car has a 60 litre tank doesn't mean that you have used 60 litres when the neddle is in the red. The most i have ever managed to get into my tank is circa 52-53litres of fuel and that was when the petrol light was on.

just for the record the last time i did the calculation i had the following figures (2.0 STi)

47litres of fuel got me 234miles.
That was a good mix of gentle motorway driving with a few B roads chucked in for good measure

I hate to say this, but I reckon your car is running just fine. A steady 40mph in 5th for 8 miles at a time means that the engine is barely warm by the time you reach your destination. It was one of the problems I had with my 05 STI - my journey to work was about 12 miles at much the same speed and I was getting about 230 miles to a tank. Yes, you're a bit down on mpg, but I reckon the dealer won't be interested or able to find anything wrong. Sorry.

My last one...MY03 STi...averaged about 26 mpg on mixed driving which I thought was ok.

Unfortunately I moved house and now have a 75 mile commute per day so my baby had to go for an Audi diseasel

I miss her soooooo much

The low fuel light will illuminate with 8 litres or thereabouts left. I found with my UK Classic that switching to 99 RON upped my mileage to 230-250 around town, as oposed to 190 to 200 with 95RON. KT Green are a sound dealership. If there's something wrong, they'll do their best to put it right. They recently got me a new Prodrive backbox under warranty due to corrosion. By the way my PPP Blob gives me around 250 per tank around town. Best of luck. Bob

It still doesn't sound even close to right - his car is standard and most people would be seeing 25mpg from that kind of driving. 15 is way off and points to an issue somewhere.

Whether a dealer is interested or not depends on how good they are and how much they care about customer service. If they do dismiss you, get some evidence together then take it to a reputable specialist and see what they say.
