ESC CONVOY

TO THE MCRAE GATHERING

SUNDAY 31 AUGUST 2008

THURROCK SERVICES @ 7.00AM

TO LEAVE @ 7.15AM PROMPT

ESC convoy Thurrock to Prodrive Banbury :-

Thurrock RM16 3BG > M25 J16 > M40 > M40 J11 Banbury OX16 3ER

Main convoy Prodrive Banbury to Prodrive Warwick :-

Banbury M40 J11 > M40 J15 > A46 > A4177 > Warwick CV8 1NR

A sticker is required to participate in any part of this event. Even if you intend just doing a short part of the convoy you will need to be registered and display an official sticker on the front of your car & it MUST be clearly visible to event Marshals throughout.

This is a condition of Police permission for the convoy.

What's happening at Prodrive Banbury on Sunday?

Cars from all over Europe will converge on the Banbury facility for 10am (Marshals to be on site at 9am). The heritage centre and the Subaru World Rally Team workshops will be open for you to explore. There will be a BBQ serving hot breakfast rolls. Please follow the Marshal's directions when it comes to parking as they have a LOT of cars to fit in!

What about the Banbury to Warwick Convoy?

At 12:00 the convoy will depart from Prodrive Banbury heading to the Prodrive facility at Warwick and will be led by Colin's 1996 World Championship Impreza.

What happens when we get to Warwick?

When you arrive at Prodrive Warwick you will be split into three Categories of traffic by Marshals:

CAT 1) THE FAST LANE If you have followed all the rules, drive a Subaru and have a Gathering sticker clearly displayed somewhere on the FRONT of your car you will be given a site plan along with details of what's happening where and when for the day and waved through in a matter of seconds with a welcoming smile! You will be one of their favourite people as you've listened, paid attention and complied with things making their job easier and the traffic flow smoother. From the gatehouse you should follow the directions of other Marshals to the designated parking areas.

YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAT 2 & CAT 3 ARE. TRUST ME.

That means some will arrive at Warwick before half the convoy has even left Banbury.

There was a nice little outside broadcast from Lanark on BBC Scotland around 5 tonight. It showed the convoy leaving & a few words from Jimmy McRae.

Is it morning yet? It's going to be hard to get to tonight.

Little reminder in case you hadn't read the guide to the Gathering.

Could all cars in the Banbury to Warwick convoy please run with dipped headlights. Note, NOT just sidelights, and NO full-on fog /driving lights, but with everyone on dipped headlights only.

Apart from increasing safety by making our presence known to other drivers who might not be aware this event is taking place, it shows a unity – that we are all together for the same cause and it increases the impact of what we are doing and why we are doing it.

Cheers

Mark
