Later that night while in tesco's in Tidworth (yes we have one know) heard a group of lads saying he raced my scooby on a303 and won.. as i climb in one came over and said did he beat u? I said "yes only coz i was doing 50mph and couldn't be bothered to race a corsa".. They all look at him and laughted...

The fact that he has nothing positive to say about any Subaru and will never give anyone elses car any credit but loves blowing his own trumpet!

In the clip shown he gets a 12.2 quarter and the Impreza did an 11.7 at 1.2bar boost with the potential to run 2bar. It is owned by a guy called gazzasti1 over on 22b.com.

There used to be an corsa gsi around here that was a "scooby killer", He tried to race me one night and I annihilated him I saw him in the pub a few days later telling his mates how he had crushed me running on only 3 cylinders Boy I wished I went over there and p1ssed on his fireworks now.

Let's not forget the Corsa that pulled nearly 300bhp at the Powerstation Open Day in March.

A few red faces that day.

You think that's bad. I know someone who stuck a 2.0 Cosworth turbo engine in a 1.3l 86' Escort shell!!

He left the original 1.3L badge on there for effect! Nice touch!

TBF VERY few people are going to have the means/inclination to get a Corsa up to 300bhp. Certainly the ones that tend to post on BBS forums about being "Scooby Killerz" are no-where near that level of tune and would be roasted by even a std WRX, let alone one that was modified to around 300, which is a piece of pee with a Scooby!

That said, I was surprised at just how many sensible comments were left on the thread referred to by the OP!!! Fair play to em!

I can't understand the appeal with Tigras either. My sister had one and that car was so unreliable. I was always under the bonnet fixing the stupid X14XE engine which was as powerful as a hair dryer. It had a crashy ride and no space whatsoever in the cabin. I would say they're even worse than Corsas.

I don't go to drag events just what i read in forums.

Has Specki actually got a vauxhall engine under the hood or is it moded beyond...?

What i know about vauxhalls i have driven is that they are fast in a straight line but pants around corners compared to likes of other FWD VW Golfs , Honda and Focus.....

hello the focus is widely acknowledged as one of the best handling FWD chassis's ever...CTR's aren't exactly shy in the right hands either

reason for choosing a Tigra; its ugly and you don't expect them to be fast would be my bet

SBD do a reasonably affordable bolt on kit for the XE engine that gets you 208BHP - not bad for a NA 2.0 lump - great head design considering its age.

That Tigra took loads of honours at TOTB - probably the most noticable performance of the day was a standing km at 169mph - which I believe is even more impressive that Olly Clarke getting an incredible 194mph over the km

Fella he lives near dewsbury college, you should have seen the car driving about locally. The engine is a c20let with a garrett gt3076r on it and completely stripped out.

He did well at totb, credit where credit is due but it is a one trick pony as it only goes fast in a straight line

seams like most of them are pretty normal to be honest, yes you get the odd joker, but the whole "racing other cars" thing on the road is always a bit ****, as you never know if the other bloke is really going for it, and most of the time the other bloke is not, which is why you get **** threads like that one.

i saw a 911 used in anger once when i was on the limiter in 5th gear, now that was ****en awesome

"Had a 2.0 16v corsa, in varying power levels... 160 -210bhp, and had a standard 320bhp STi TypeR.... no contest on that count. The Impreza was about 5x better in every aspect"

how can you have a car that has varying power levels of 50 BHP? i can understand 1 or 2 bhp on a really hot day, and a really cold day and different octane fuels if it was such a precisely tuned car, but 50bhp is a BIG difference in a N/A car?

and a standard 320bhp type r, werent these 276bhp?

i also like the way u can BLATENTLY tell how they are all referring to the websites for specs on the imprezas, all of them are coming out with 0-60 times for each and every spec to determine what is faster, in reality 0-60 means nothing, its how fast it will go from 30-90, or how fast it can get up to 'big boy speeds' i'd say, and then its all about how the car corners.

When they mention the LET corsas (2.0 turbo for those who don't know, about 200 odd bhp as standard) yeah ok they may be faster than certain imprezas in a straight line, but half of those converted cars wont have uprated suspenion, so they will have to more or less corner at the same speeds as the standard form of their vehicle.

to be honest, i have been "lucky" enough to be thrown the keys of a 2.0 16v turbo nova, and to be compleatly honest, they are not that fast as you can not really use the power.

changing lanes simply by flooring the throttle is amusing at times mind

never driven an XE one yet, but i would assume its the nicer car to drive due to the less brutal delivery of the engines power.

And the brakes, I cant imagine the stock 1.0 corsa brakes handling those sort of speeds

thats probably why most of them end up perched on roundabouts or in ditches
