I enjoy coming over to scoobynet and having a read as the people on here seem a little more grown up at times than on the RS BB.

After reading some of the comments on here it's quite clear that some of you are complete tossers and talk complete rubbish.

If anybody on here can say they really don't speed and don't do the occasion wheel spin that WTF are they doing with a sports car. I really really hate hipocrates, idiots!! What's the problem not enough sex in your life ??

Makes me laugh my head off when people say it's ok to speed in a 60 limit or on the motorway but not in a 30, blah blah. Exceeding ANY speed limit is wrong and against the law but we all do it and take our chances.

Ima - bad luck mate and you do get my Sympathy. Unfortunitly you will just have to except it. I would admit the speeding charge but fight the dangerous driving charge. Good luck!!

Thumbs up

Ima,

I hope you and the other 2 people get off lightly, but in this day and age you know you are going to get hit hard by the law and an example made of you.

Everyone speeds from time to time, I do and have got done myself. Just fight the dangerous driving part, that is where you will get HAMMERED by the court.

Hope all goes well for you!

Gary.

Monte-

I guess I speed, but never in towns, villages etc, you're right about it being illegal everywhere, but it is bl**dy stupid and dangerous in built up areas. Also, how can anyone complain about being stopped for that at a known cruise, the police are everywhere and it just goes to show how dim people are for doing it on these occasions!I've never spun the wheels of my scoobs on a public road, if ever, and sorry to report I get plenty of sex!!!

You're right perhaps we are more grown up here, and perhaps you'll grow up too one day!

LOL @ Disc,

Classic, OK to speed in a 60 limit!!! So what about if you lost control of your car in a 60 limit doing say a 100Mph+ and smashed straight into another car and killed them all. But hey that's OK it was in a 60 limit!! It's bloody dangerous to speed at any time!!

I suppose I will grow up and become one of the gang when I get a scoob!!

Serious question as ive never drove a scooby (spent most of my life with BMW M power)...

Listening to IMAs story, he was rolling and he put his foot down (in the dry) and lit up the wheels, he wasnt doing a burnout, or pulling off fast, hes got a powerful 300+bhp car so its to be expected.

Theres been a lot of posts about "i never spin the wheels in my subaru"- err... is it possible? im pretty sure a std or even 280odd bhp (like most of the average modded scoob seems to be)scoob couldnt spin the wheels apart from from a standing start anyway (in the dry, at least)?

Has a std uk scoob got enough power to even light up the wheels in the dry even from a standing start?

Im serious so dont give me grief pls...

LOL @ the replies to this.

Ima, I heard from Nige about last weekend, and I feel for you mate. I've been out on the roads with you loads of times, and can safely say that you usually drive very sensibly. Unfortunately, it's always that one time.....

I got done doing 56 in a 30, and got six points, and a hefty fine, after pleading the judge not to ban me. If you can get off the dd charge, than plead careless, as you're more likely to get a lot less. Think about how you progress with this, and don't rush. You've still got to wait for the NIP to arrive.

As for some of the replies on this post - what a joke! Some of you lot act as if you've never broken the limit. I will heartily agree that inappropriate speed kills, but don't act as judge and jury when you're so unaware of the facts. If you didn't want to drive quickly, then you wouldn't have bought a scoob, so please don't be so quick to slate others - especially those who appreciate all performance cars.

This is not directed at anybody in particular, but flame suit on anyway....

Cool

I said I sometimes speed mate, I didn't say I did 100mph in a 60!!!

But you are saying its OK to do 70-80plus in a 30 with pedestrians, children and many, many other road users. And why not through in a couple of wheel spins too, cos they are doubly safe and sensible!!!!

None of us is perfect, I'm not (hence the admission) but come on, you gotta use some commonsense!

scottdg - I'm with you mate.

Wheel spinning and doing 50 in a 30 is typical boy racing in my books. People who can afford to spin their wheels and **** about like that should buy a £5k Caterham and some £20 tyres from Kwik fit and **** off into an airfield and do it where it isn't dangerous or indeed gives every other performance car driver a bad name. When "performance car drivers" are referred to here I doubt any serious driver would admit so sticking by this type of stuff.

The slanging match is silly and makes for boring reading really - one of the things I don't like about the BBS these days is the handbag swinging that sometimes happens.

I've been a member here for a while and whilst I am not a car enthusiast and more a driving ehthusiast I have had a lot from reading views and advice. I've never heard threats and garbage like on this thread on here before though.

Ima, I feel for you.
It is nerve wracking having to go to court on these things. I've never had the dd bit, just speeding (100 on a motorway). I did get offered the choice on another occasion with what I would like to be booked for - dangerous, careless or speeding. Got let off with a warning in the end, its a long story. I seem to recall that dangerous doesn't need any more proof than Mr Plod standing up and saying "I have been a traffic policeman for the last xx years and in my opinion it was dangerous driving", I don't believe there is any burden of proof on their part.
Since getting a picture through the post for 36 in a 30 last year I have made a concious decision not to exceed 30, 40 and 50 limits. 60 limits and motorways I give myself an arbitrary 80 and 90, fast enough but not enough for a ban. As for spinning the wheels, hard not to on a slippery road with over 220 through the front wheels. Try the comment suggested earlier about oil/water etc on the road and be VERY repentant in front of the magistrates.
Good Luck.

Blooby hell i didn't know spinning wheels was dangerous driving
glad i got the racelogic now -

Some of the responses on here have been a bit OTT why did u buy
a scoob....where are all the people that posted about what made them buy a scoob and it was because of the kick it gave in second gear, so you all waited until you got in a 50/60+ road.....

What about all the motoring programs...they are always spinning wheels out of junctions for the camera

Disc,

Yep common sense is needed when breaking the law. We look at the road conditions and then decide what speed in our own mind is OK.

All roads are different and also the time of day can effect your decision as to what degree you will break the law.

There are some 60 limits that you would probably not be able to exceed 60 without really risking it. On the other end of the scale there probably are some 30 limits that at the certain times of days you could easily do 80mph without problem. It is a know fact that most people do exceed the 30 limit even at busy times of the day with I am sure a high proportion doing upto 45mph. So is doing 56mph in 30mph at gone midnight really that bad ?? It could be but perhaps not, I would have to see the road and similiar conditions on the night in question to make my mind up.

Anyway the government are doing a good job and making breaking the 30 limit socially unaceptable as seen by some of the comments here. Just for the record I try not to break the 30 limit as I found out some years ago it's so easy to get caught by the plod in a 30. I got caught exceeding the 30 limit three times in 9 months on my motorbike, had to drive round with 10 points on my license, a complete nightmare. I will take a guess that most speeding convictions are for exceeding the 30 limit, hence why the big crack down.

IMA,
Getting back to the original point,my advice is represent yourself in court dont get a solicitor, remember the magistrates are just normal (ish)people so representing yourself is always seen as a good start by them.I was done on camera doing 108 on an empty motorway some time back, the solicitor told me to expect 6 points and a 60 day ban + fine.
I represented myself pleaded insanity and walked away with 3 points and a £200 fine (no ban). The court usher said the magistrates like it when people dont hide behind their solicitor or the royal mail and doing this is always a good start.
PS. DONT FORGET ADDRESS THEM AS YOUR WORSHIPS (they like that too)

Zippy

Did you spin the wheels in a straight line, or did you try to get the tail out on a corner

I think if it was a different person from ima posting this the reply's would probably be more sympathetic.

At the end of the day theirs a few people who don't like ima and will use this as an opportunity to slag him.

P.s Someone asked could you get wheelspin out of a scoob?
Well I have a jap spec with a few mods, should be pushing 300bhp and i couldn't make it wheelspin if i try'd, which of course that I haven't.

Ima tough luck.

You are entirely correct cryptwalk - Imalardass came on here some time ago with the claim that all scooby drivers are sheep ********. Now he can't understand why he doesn't get much sympathy.

JohnBarnes - I know FB personally, and if he wants to be Bubba you are in deep ****.

Quite simply - you can wheelspin a Scoob (but more than likely not a standard one). Even in 5th in the wet in an RA that's setup right

Bottom line - you speed and get caught you face the music.

Some would say the only crime is getting caught.

Well you did so tough ****e.

If you were a nicer person on here you may not get so much flak. Reap the whirlwind you *** bucket.

I can't believe there are so many neive people on this board, so I'll put my simplified explanation up:

There is a huge difference between wheelspinning, and breaking traction.

I too laugh at these kids in car parks who slap on a pair of remoulds, and sit there doing burnouts with 5 spotty teenagers sitting on the bonnet. What a bunch of tw@ts!

However, if none of you 4WD boys have ever driven a rear wheel drive car, then you should know that at 350 bhp, it will break traction (as in light up the rear tyres) in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and when it's wet, you can forget all about accelerating in a straight line.

If you think that this is childish behaviour, then all owners of performance cars like porsches, vipers, caterhams etc etc must be childlike too for wheelspinning!

Richard, I had a 400bhp Cossie, and only ever spun the wheels the first week after the conversion, from then on I leart how to drive it properly. You cant always blame it on the car.

In this case it seems Ima may have done it by accident, judging by the grief hes got for his 'Driving Miss Daisy' approach!!!

Disco,

I understand where you're coming from on that one, but as you should well know, it's all too easy.... and it's quite fun!

If you've ever been in a car that's lit up the rear at 120mph, then you'll know what I mean!
