I would stick with 5/4 for the GDB, theyre a heavier car so dont need to go as soft as the GC8.

Im just double checking with BC, I know they will run at a sensible height, just checking that theyll extend up to full height.

was kind of tempted in these, but i think i will wait until the 4/3 ones are sorted, as i have had jap coilovers in the past and hated them with a passion!

i actually like the way it drives now on springs + new shocks, but the shocks are not so new anymore and will be due for replacement, plus the topmounts are looking a bit shagged

Dont confuse our 5/4 kits with the way many Jap imort Imprezas ride. Theyre night and day. The Asian market does have a tendency to go rediculous on the spring rates but thats night and day in comparison to our current offerings

The 4/3 will be too soft for many people.

they will probably be fine for me, the suspension is quite stiff anyway with stupid 18" wheels, poly bushes and what not, i need a bit of softness otherwise it will drive me insane lol

i don't believe having hard setup shocks/springs is the best route anyway for outright grip

You can get the car near standard ride height but we arent 100% sure if youll get right back up. The problem is that the bottom mount can only screw so far down the damper body before it because dangerous.

What they can do is make a custom kit with longer damper bodies to guarntee 100% than you can set your car on stilts if you so wish The problem is that theyd be more expensive as wed have to airfreight so theyd come in at £575.

If you dont need 100% exact standard height then the kits in stock will be fine

would these come with custom springs as well or standard as if the spring platformbottom mount was longer then so would the springs or they may be loose and rattle when at full height

spring height is different to ride height, as said the damper body will be longer so the distance from the spring mount to the hub will be greater, for the same spring pre-load.

HTH

DunxC

P.S. I'm really fed-up with my tired old standard set-up, looks like I'm in the mood to spend !

As Dunx says, the spring platform is adjustable so the spring wouldnt be loose. They might be built with longer springs anyway but either way, its a non issue, dont worry about it

Finally had my set of coilovers fitted alone with the hard race gearbox & engine mounts and they are fantastic . Really happy with setup and ride quality of the 5/4 kit is definitely fine for UK roads and I am running half a dozen clicks off the soft setting. Engine and gear box mounts have made a huge difference to the car, everything is rock solid and no slip at all, I got a shock as to how much the gear change had firmed up when I got back in to the car. Just need a little more low down torque as the car doesn't really like revs between 1750 and 2000, shakes a fair bit but other than that super stuff.

One last time for the products at Apex and the great service I received, phoned up ordered and collect in the hour

i found the mounts stop shaking the car after a few miles on them, mine done this when i first fitted them, they really make a night/day difference to the feel of the car

UK my00 GC8

car only used for drag racing , no track, twisties or road .
dont really understand all this 5/4 4/3 stuff so what do you advise Bren ?

raced weekend and with 478 bhp / 546 lb/ft torque the car was very unstable on launch , need to firm things up without being hard. if you know what i mean

i did set a new PB by 0.1 but the 60 foot was 0.14 down due to know traction . running 215/45/17 toyo 888s as well.

Im not an expert on drag racing but Id expect youll need relatively soft compression on the rear to allow the car to squat and then stiffer rebound to keep the tyres planted as you accelerate. Not sure about the front, soft rebound to allow quicker weight transfer to the rear maybe?

Im guessing, drag racing isnt my bag.

You will know better than I do, you tell me what you want and Ill do my best to supply something that fits your needs
