right guys , managed to get down the garage for an hour tonight and gapped two sets of piston rings and install the two pistons and will hopfully get the other ones sorted tomorow
started by putting rings in the bore and used a piston to push rings in square then used feeler gauge to check specs and then adjust if needed and this will be done on every bore as you never know if one bore could be different
[IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
put the circlip in one side of the piston first then i put the rings on to the pistons and moved the rings to the right ways on the pistons as shown in the scooby manual and then oiled the piston and rings before using the piston tool
[IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
then it was too knock the piston down with along bit of wood and made sure the pistons were marked in the right direction
[IMG]
[/IMG]
once piston was in the bore i lined up the piston and pin then lubed with same lube i used on the bearings and knocked in with same size bar as the pin then placed the other circlip in
[IMG]
[/IMG]
both pistons in on oneside and only two to go
will get them in asap then start putting all the bolts ect.. from my 2.0 liter on to the 2.5

up date on what i done so far
first was to get my rcm modded oil pump and clean it then put sealant on it then bolt to the block and just loosly fit the modine oil cooler in to place
[IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
then it was to fit my new hi flow thermostat to my rcm water pump then i cleaned up the housing as i had to use the one from the old pump
[IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
was going to fit this but the pump came with a paper type gasket and the original was metal type so don't know if to fit it with the paper or an original from subaru
or just use sealer
next is to get the heads sorted and get arp head studs and cometic gaskets not sure what size gaskets tho as it's a 2.5 with sti version 4 heads
here is a pics of the heads with type ra pulleys before they get sent to a local place to get them checked over
the person i bought them off said they were re shimmed and all in spec and all fine but you never know and will be best for m to make sure
then will be just doing a little head work myself but not to much tho as just want to clean the ports of casting marks and maybe knife edge and take the edge off the conbustion so it wont suffer from pre det so any help would be great

bit more done today
as i have used all subaru gaskets/seals ect.. i did not want to fit my wter pump with non subaru one so got hold of a new subaru one then fitted it to block
[IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
then i stripped the heads down and noted where everything goes and put parts in bags so i know where they all came from
heads will under go some light work by myself which will involve removing cast marks slight knife edging and sanding edges of chainber to try and stop some pre det
will also check all shims ect.. and check everythink is with in spec plus new valve stem seals ans new cam seals will be used
pics of heads stripped down and showing what version 3/4 sti buckets and shims look like
