I love autotrader... loads of car dealers advertise WRXs as STIs as have no idea what they are selling (the second link above) lol

I wouldn't get too hung up on the spoiler, you can buy those after market or second hand for about £500.

plus spraying and fitting costs. The car i want is crystal grey with sti spoiler and there isnt many about. None of them links are subaru dealers are they so how come they are different? Why does nothing happen when i click on them lol?
From the title i think one is just a plain wrx with the wrong picture of the interior and another is the aylesbury one with the horrible black wheels. Are these the ones

I wouldn't buy a car simply because it already had the spoiler tbh, plus your better off getting an STi8 spoiler, they look much better

Yep, the two links seem to be the cars you describe, so I take it you have already seen them then?!

Links work for me
Maybe try right-click then "open in new window"?

ok i restarted my laptop and it works lol. That last one actually looks good mate ive only ever searched from £9000 upwards. Ive been looking at the other 2 on trader for a few weeks but they do nothing for me. So no one likes the piston heads one?

Does it look a bit cheap/tacky for some reason that sl? Could be just the pictures but something about it. The wheels maybe?
Might have a look tomorrow but its had a remap but they dont know what or where and it has a k&n, some silicone and a strut brace.

The SL is the best WRX you can get. In fact I have those leather seats in my STI Spec D and I think they look spot on, better than the cloth interiors IMHO. But then again I have black wheels too and I know you don't like those lol

The wheels on the SL do look wrong, I agree with you there. Perhaps it just needs dropping a bit with wheels on like that. They look like 18" Prodrive PFF7 replicas.

i dont mind black wheels so much but on the other they look like standard wrx wheels sprayed black and it looks a bit crap to me. More to the point though everyone was saying not to bother if its not from subaru and then recommended me 3 others that arent either lol. I cant win.
Somewhere out there is a mint crystal grey wrx with an sti spoiler just waiting for me and you never know it could be the piston heads one.

I think people were saying they would want it to be from a dealer with it being an ex-demonstrator.

I would only buy an Impreza from a dealer or from an enthusiast as they are cars that are likely to take a bit of stick. Having said that, you get a feeling when going to see a car and the person you are buying from that you can't get from the web or over the phone.

So go and see it, test drive, test drive, test drive! You'll know if it feels right or wrong.

going tomorrow. 2 hrs away so i hope its a good one. Buying from a main dealer doesnt make it any better though really. Anyone could have a car and thrash it day in day out from cold then trade it in at their local dealer for you to come along and think its a main dealer so it will be perfect! you know what i mean lol ? It comes with 6 months subaru warranty as well so there is no difference there. I just hope that when i get in it i will know what its like

Looks like you had already made up your mind before starting this thread!
At least they've told you it was an ex-demo car, they didn't have to and what's to say the original owner of any car we buy second hand didn't thrash it when they first got it?
Don't get pulled in by the spoiler though mate, let your head decide this tomorrow not your heart.

I bought my MY05 STi as an ex demo from a dealer with 6k on. The MD used it as his daily car. 27k later she's still going strong

Ex-demo could just mean pre registered. mine was a demo then had 3 owners, but 2 of them were husband and wife. I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest.

I agree, I've just bought a WRX SL wagon with 'PPP' on an 05 with 24K on the clock, I'm the 4th owner, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest the car looked great so I had an RAC inspection done on it just to put my mind at rest. I probably paid a little to much for it @ £10,400 with 30k service done, But it just ticked all the boxes for me, as I wanted a wagon and I wanted 'PPP' so no stupid insurance costs for modding it myself and the SL was a great bonus. Only thing I was not sure about was the colour. It's WRX please pull me blue although I must admit it's really growing on me now I have it sat out side .

IMHO. Look at the car if it feels right get a full AA/RAC inspection just to put you mind a rest. Being a one owner car means nothing. I looked at on at fords of winsford with only 17K on the clock and to be happy with the body work it needed a complete respray, every panel has something wrong with it. Mostly minor but enough to pee you off every time you cleaned it.

I looked at some 1 owner 'minters' My car was still mint even with 4 owners.

I have bought it lol. I saw the car yesterday and its absolutely mint, by far the best ive seen in the couple of months ive been searching. Contacted the dealer who had it first and it turns out it was never a demo car anyway they just registered it and sold it with delivery miles. Saw another at evans hallshaw after it but there is scuffs and scratches all over it.
Picking it up next weekend after he has fitted a new spotlight which has a little hole in it, other than that theres a couple of tiny dents on the side and thats it. Its obviously been cared for.
Only thing i noticed was when driving you could just about hear the sound of a dump valve hissing which ive never heard in a standard one before so maybe theres a small air leak or is this normal?

Glad you're happy mate. I could hear the standard recirc dump valve on my car, but mine is an STI so not sure if different. I wouldn't have thought so. sure it's nothing to worry about.

Very wise and turns out there was nothing to worry about after all!

You can hear mine sometimes, especially after it's just been serviced.

Nice one mate!

Regarding the dints, you can get them taken out for not much. I had a golf ball dint (self inflicted ) removed from my wing and a few from the door for £60.

will do mate. im off to fuertaventura for a week so that might take my mind off it. More excited about the car though lol.
A mate of mine has a dent master business so he will be getting a phone call soon and regarding the hiss it has just been serviced less than a thousand miles ago so maybe its the same as yours. probably get it looked at to be on the safe side anyway.
Thanks for all the help though everyone.

Probably a bit late, but 3 of my Scoobys have been ex-demo, never had a problem.
