Cool

I downloaded the PC demo, and to be honest, it pails in comparison to the PS3 one. It's usually the other way round, but the handling doesn't seem as good and the steering is impossible to get right.

I have spoken to a few others about the PC version and they said the same.

Very true. I think the 360 version is superior to the PS3 version (the graphics look a lot more vibrant on my setup compared to the PS3 version run through the same hardware), but both look and play better than the pc version.

Still tempted by Grid but contradicting veiws have held me back from buying it for the 360.
What`s it like compared to Forza2 and GT4 as these are the only similar things I`ve played having never played any PGR.
I didn`t like the GT series whatsoever and Forza2 kept my interest for about 4 weeks/30 hours of play that`s why I`m dubious about wasting more money

It's more of an arcade racer, it's more comparable to pgr4/flatout uc.

Try the demo first

Yep try the demo. There's one available for all formats. Personally I think the gameplay is great, and even the graphics look better than GT5 Prologue to me (GT5 cars / tracks are far to clinical). Definitely an arcade racer, but an enjoyable one

Yes, you've hit the nail on the head there Iain. I think they have got the balance just right with this one.

Even a friend of mine who is sim lover thought that Grid on the PS3 was one of the most enjoyable racing games he had played.

Alright you`ve all convinced me it`s worth a try

Do I need to be signed upto Xbox live to get the demo? `Cos I`m not as I haven`t played online for months and never renewed the subscription.

Downloaded it on PS3 and spent a fair bit of time playing. It looks good and sounds good but the playing falls short IMO.

Played demo last night on PC and sound was good esp on surround with sub woofer on 50% Driving is very much Toca tbh.

£20.49 at CD-Wow less a £1 voucher I just got from them = bargain price esp compared to console version

Am tempted to get a steering wheel as well

I was just online when it started jumping, the race ended after about 12 seconds and I got two achievements for it, the 'short' and 'long haul'! Thing is, now it says i've covered -1333432 miles!

woohoo

my team is now top of the table, doing the last global race now and my driver rank is 6, so not long to go

tried gentleman driver achieve again last night and failed

did the nurburg touring car race, easy did the first one, mechanic bloke tells me its a clean race, did not hit anything that i was aware of, heard no noises or anything

started the second race, and restarted it about 10 times as i kept getting nudged, managed to finish the race and must have got hit somewhere and not realised

what view are people using? i stuck with the chase view, no idea why, but i started using the incar one today and i much prefer it, not did any drifting with the incar view yet, might have to change again for that

bumper/floor cam, it's a little low for my liking but better than all the other options.

For Gentleman driver, do the touring cars around Spa in the first section of Euro races - it's a 1 race event with a nice wide track...

There's supposed to be a patch this week to fix the missing 2 cars.

I'm struggling with the Le mans on pro race, why don't they switch on the floodlights

The car list will drop from 45 to the correct 43 - Ferrari pulled their license at the last minute which is why the game is 2 short.

Aye.

For those interested, the online ranking for Elite is 1200xp and 2000xp for Legend, which should be approx 400 wins.

XP works similar to truskill, you'll get more for beating opponents who are equal or higher than you in rank.

i turned up the brightness and contrast on the tv to help with that one

FWIW its much easier if you use the big audi diesel r8 thing as it is so dam fast

finished all the events/trophys this morning, went back to do one of the drifting ones on extreme difficulty for the achievement, final player does around 700k score

i do 1.5million, and dont get it because i forgot to use the incar view and switch off the traction control

might leave this game for a few days and finish off GTA4 story mode,

Awesome I reckon, my copy of gt5 prologue is going on ebay and I wont be buying the full gt5, huge disappointment, completely uninspiring and uninvolving drive, grid is more arcade but is superb!

That worked a treat, got it on the 2nd try (1st try i hit the wall @ 260mph, seems the full Le mans course has a couple of extra bends added to the long straight )

the thing is, i must have my tv set to dark, as i sometimes have to turn the settings up in games to see things, but i like my blacks actually black, not just a washed out grey, you just can not win, i could turn them up a bit, but then dvds and stuff look CRAP!!

if the options in the game will not allow you to tailor it to the specific game, its a PITA, it was the same with GTA although that allows you to adjust ingame.
