I assume that your Scoob is not the only one in the area, so the amount of attention it appears to be recieving would suggest that the scum in question are viewing your house/car as an easy target.
Preventing theft is all about deterent. Get the security lights, make it obvious that there's a dog in the house, block the subaru in with another car. Make it hard enough and they should move on to another car, after all criminals are all about the easy life.

Baseball bats and big dogs are not the answer.
Totally agree about the bats bobr , but if you'd like to come and break into my house on the off chance that these two aren't going to attack you then you're more than welcome

Cool keyring!

On a serious note, i had CCTV put in after the house got attacked by little chav scum with eggs on two occasions.

It's not especially great quality but if anyone does come by to have a look at least you can have a chance of catching an identity. A flood light is a good option too!

Hope the situation gets better mate

Most dogs will run to their owner(master) and crap themselves.(unless they are trained attack dogs)
My dog will not leave anyone in the door or back gate and never runs to me or the wife if anyone comes. And even if he is in the house he can open the inside doors by himself

No one in there right mind would go into madisonmonkeys gaff,**** that

i have a jack russell and the noise he makes jumping into the front door and barking is enough to deter anyone
u would think there is a massive dog behind their!
plus he wont let anyone past him, some delivery guy walked thru the front door once and he had him pinned against the front door!!
pi**ed my pants, he is half staffy and half jack russell tho

Lots of these sorts of thieves will not be sneaking through a window. The door will be smashed off it's hinges or the current trend is via the patio window. 4 x masked up mindless thugs, pumped up on a mixture of coke, drink and adrenelin won't be stopped by bats or dogs. Most dogs will run to their owner(master) and crap themselves.(unless they are trained attack dogs)

If it aint garaged, and your feelings are correct then get rid.

Oh, and don't leave your keys on full view or you will get some 14 year old kid and his mate smashing the window for the keys. Imagine the mayhem they could cause in a 300 bhp car. A little irresponsible perhaps.
disagree not most dogs will run atall i have two rotties they are soft as shi like the rest of the dogs shown but dare to cross the boundrey and they will protect my family till the end!!!!!!! and why should we be changing our lifes in fear of these scumbags

with regards to the cameras there are cheap systems that do well during the night but as said keep the tape recorder/data storage in the loft,
Also you may not catch the culprits stealing it but I bet you will catch them casing the joint, driving past /slowing down etc,
also have a word with people around you, have they seen anything(we have a lot of old folks who are always curtain twitching),
do any of these have any kind of cameras ?

Dont let low life scum put you off there are always ways and means.

Aside from the Rambo wannabees thinking an assorted armourment of small beer weapons is going to defend them from hardened crims stealing the car to do an armed robbery, I'd say get rid of it for peace of mind.

I'll be selling mine shortly as I'm coming to the end of my current 'performance' phase and I'll be getting another Golf GT TDI until I yearn for another Impreza again. Won't set the world alight, but nippy with 60 mpg, and more importantly, some nutter with a sawn off won't be breaking down my door

don't arm yourself with a weapon unless your are willing to use it with enough force to kill someone, or expect it to be used on you. a barking dog is barking for 'backup' and there is only a 50/50 chance it will attack depending on scary the attacker is to it. don't risk yourself, your partner or your kids for the sake of an insured car, leave the keys where they can be found, you do not want masked nutters coming up your stairs at night. if your are worried don't keep a desirable car in view on your drive, garage it, cover it or park it away from the house, it is less likely to be stolen if parked away from the property containing they keys. the only way to give some peace of mind is 'blackjax', or for total piece of mind get rid of the car, your missus shouldn't have to live in absolute fear for the sake of a car.
fcking makes me puke the pathetic laws in this country, but they are pathetic, and car crime will continue. but you cannot go worrying everyday, it's not worth it, as good as the scoob is, it really is not worth it.....

Just remove the main ignition fuse each night, pop it in your pocket and they can try all night long keys or no keys!!

Helps me sleep at night!!

I think anti-hijack systems have some advantage here. Ive got one fitted. If my car is stolen with the keys after about two mins of driving it will automatically shut the engine down leaving the lights flashing and the horn sounding. Just a safety thing really the car is down the road with the crooks and hopefully i and the familly are still safe not anywhere near the car.

Im obviously not going to say how its disarmed. But ive tried it on loads of people i know and given them the keys. It always beats them.

yeah weapons arn't going to work. they'll have their own, and they'll be more ready. Sorry man, but they will I know what i would do; park it elsewhere for a while as suggested by others, and remove an easily accessable piece of componentry that is essentiall to the running of the car, like Paintshopgaz said. Even get a 300quid (or cheaper!!) 1.1 run about and stick it on the drive. if its just for month or two can easy sell it again and you'll even save cash in fuel.

What an awfull situation, i know i aint said anything new, but just want to pass on my best wishes, and i really hope the situation blows over

Well it was clearly past someones bedtime

What the different signs of aggression are in dogs is somewhat irrelevent in the context of this thread
(allthough I can assure you that when mine bark it is not because they require backup).
As I stated previously it's about deterent and a barking dog is a great one. Even with your seemingly limited K9 knowledge you are of the opinion there is a '50/50 chance' a barking dog will attack so as an intruder why would you take that risk? The most likely course of action would be to move on to another target with less unknown variables.

Any further questions about dog behaviour can be sent directly to

ALL these posts about extra security for your car are good but in my opinion security for your partner should be the first thing on your mind.

If it was me I would be increasing security for her rather than the car first.. if your not at home every night, get internal door locks .. stronger window locks.. maybe a panic alarm .. phone in the bed room ... bedroom friendly weapon .. something she could just "happen" to have at hand in the bedroom ..
