Many estimates put the fans attending at over 200K.

And these videos show how many rioting? 200 fans? 300 fans? 200,000 fans?

I use the term 'fan' loosely of course

Rangers have a very large fan base in Northern Ireland aswell as worldwide,so to say they were all scots is a typical uneducated view.

Let's put this in perspective.

Number of Rangers fans in the area according to UEFA.
"well over" 100,000

Number of Rangers fans actually arrested and charged so far.
11

A further 11 are on bail pending enquiries.

THat brings the total to a possible 22 so far.

So that's 0.022% of Rangers fans that night that could possibly be in trouble.

I don't think we really need to be thinking about the break down of society, do you?

did you forget this little nugget?

Police in riot gear used CS gas to disperse crowds in Jersey attacking members of the island's Portuguese community as trouble flared across England in the wake of the football team's exit from Euro 2004.

More than 100 England supporters besieged the Red Lion pub in Thetford, Norfolk, trapping around 120 people - many of them Portuguese - including children. Police called in reinforcements from all over Norfolk and it was more than two hours before those inside could get to safety.

There were disturbances in other parts of the country, including Boston in Lincolnshire and Croydon in south London, both scenes of rioting after England lost to France last week.

Around 1,500 England fans brought Minden Place in St Helier to a standstill after Portugal's victory. Traffic was diverted and police held back the crowd as bottles were thrown and Portuguese people, who make up around 10% of the island's population, were taunted.

Mitch Couriard, a parish police officer, said: "It was shocking. There's been nothing like this in Jersey in living memory."

The Red Lion in Thetford is managed by three Portuguese businessmen and around 80 Portuguese people were among those at the pub.

When the game ended, hooligans pelted the building with bottles and stones and tried to force their way in. Several officers and people inside the pub were said to have suffered cuts from flying glass. Police said one constable needed hospital treatment. Order was restored after police reinforcements, some in riot gear, arrived. Police said 11 people were arrested.

Jorge Pascoal, 37, who was in the pub, said: "There were about 200 people outside with bottles flying at the building and the police trying to hold them back. It was like the second world war."

Elsewhere, Thames Valley Police said a man died after an incident in a pub in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Nine people were arrested. In Liverpool, a man had his ear cut off after the game

Its a matter of absolute fact that Scottish football fans have a much better record than English football fans at home or abroad, in national or international competition, but lets not let the facts get in the way of a good anti Scotland rant, now...

No one is denying, north or south of the border, that this is inexcusable behavior and that those involved should be heavily punished. But this is not Scottish or English bad behaviour - this is Football related bad behaviour.
DevilDog, I see your point, a lot of groups of fans have the propensity to misbehave, but in this case its the Rangers fans making a right **** of themselves, so you posting stuff about other fans reminds me of when I pull missus up on something and she turns it round and says "What about when you....."

Insert whatever I have done recently (or over the last twenty years) to take the heat off her......

Err they were Rangers fans not Scotland fans, The Tartan army are Scotland fans who do have an excellent reputation, please don't confuse the two.
Rangers fans are British fans - it seems to be all that they are interested in. They seemingly want nothing to do with Scotland.

RIP, IMHO glasgow is a pit and as per my 'friendly' fan on fan, city on city, country on country post I reserve the right to rib every weegie I meet about it

FWIW, I am a British citizen - that's what it says on my passport and that's what I'll be when I touch down in America in a week time and have to fill out all their poxy forms. However, when lashed up in a bar in vegas and asked where I come from I'm Scottish to the core. I'm sure most English people and Welsh people feel exactly the same. In fact, Rangers fans are pretty much the only group I know of that are borderline obsessed with being British.

Question

Sure, and you've never and never will wear a kilt. (English invention anyway) But I'm willing to bet you're like every other jock when it suits you

You cannot pigeonhole hole a Glaswegian, just as you cannot pigeonhole anyone else. To do so is ignorance. Edinburgh is not the be all and end all of Scotland, neither is Glasgow.

Glasgow is a pit? Expand please.

Funny that because hanging up on the door behind me is my MacLeod Ancient Hunting Muted kilt complete with plaid ready to be worn on my wedding. I had it on no more than a few days ago

I'm not pigenholing glaswegians - I've got many friends from Glasgow. I just don't like the city and the general feel of the place. It feels a lot like a big English city to me and they aren't really my cup of tea. Also, in general, I don't like the 'sterotypical' weegie. Loud mouthed, that accent, carrying a blade Everyone says Weegies are really friendly and will talk to you whereas someone from Edinburgh won't look the path you are on. There is truth in that, but at least in Edinburgh you know where you stand: If a weegie randomly walks up to you and starts talking it could mean a number of things; he's maybe just being friendly. If that happens in Edinburgh you are basically about to be jumped/mugged and should run like fvck.

Oh and I'm willing to bet, if you ask 100 Welsh, or 100 Scottish people what nationality they are, over 99% would say Welsh or Scottish over British. I'm Scottish first and British second, After all, it's the United Kingdom, not 'Great' Britain.

But I get your drift

Oh and crucially; the thing I HATE most about Glasgow is the question, "whit team dae yi support mate!". I don't like the 50:50 odds of getting my head stomped on and IME this simply isn't a problem. Even if a bunch of guys wearing hibs tops asked me that on a bus down Leith I'd still happily respond, "Jambo's lads"

Well you can hardly blame a city for its problems. We dont all conform to IW's soap dodging norm btw

I think you've had a few bad experiences of 'Weegies'. Whether you propagate this as fact is up to you. Cheers
