This is 110% my problem with Celtic and Rangers. A bit of friendly club vs club, city vs city or even country vs country rivalry is fine if it's all in good spirits. I simply cannot stand that religion and creed is, as always, introduced until it becomes the dominant factor. This whole planet would be soooooooooooooooo much better off without any system of religion or beliefs. Pretty much every singles, if not every single, conflict in world history is as a direct or indirect results of different religious views?!!!
What place is there for it in football? What happened to just supporting the local team in the city you grew up in?

Rangers and Celtic wanted to join the English PL for the greater competition that would allow them to compete better in Europe.

BTW - it was only Rangers and Celtic who had considered the idea of an approach to play in the premiership - not the whole league.

im a proud rangers supporter , whats wrong with displaying a union jack ??
admittedly the riots last night weren't the best idea by the 'supporters'
but to be fair most of it is the media's fault (AT LEAST !!!) argue all you want the media is to blame for insighting this trouble , front page the last week has been saying about the trouble to expect in Manchster , giving info on the trouble to expect etc !!

Perhaps one of the coppers said that to the Rangers fans and they got a tiny bit upset?
Some people take a sport far, far, far too seriously, and I think this is an example of that. Yes, there will be a hardcore of people who claim to love the game/team, but for them it's just an excuse to go and cave in a few heads, for the rest though, I really don't "get" the whole hatred of another team and their fans. Perhaps it's because I'm not "into" football and never have been.
I recall being at a friends place when his team (Spurs) were playing and losing and this chappy started crying, this was just a normal game, wasn't a cup final or anything like that. I was surprise and thought something else must be up, but no, it was just due to his team losing a game. I'm probably a heathen as I don't get why a loss would be such a bad thing.

Celtic fans, yes. Hearts and Hibs are nowhere near as bad! There is a very small group of nutcase chavs in Section N at Tynecastle who share similar bigoted views but we are talking about a hundred guys at most and they are hated/feared by the 99% of the hearts population that, until recently (recently being, until rominov wrecked the club), enjoyed watching their team knock a ball about with no regard for issues out with the sport of football.
Hibs are pretty much the same; just last week my bro and I sat in the Pavillion - a hibs pub - having a few drinks chatting to the guys at the table next to us. It was a full 30 minutes of football chat before the question of, "who do you support" was raised. They were die hard hibs fans and after 30 seconds of friendly ribbing we continued with our pints and chatted about the shocking state of the SPL and the dominance of the old firm. No hatred, no hard feelings and certainly no racism, bigotry or religion of any kind - exactly the way it should be.

Scots football fans are relatively well behaved, unlike that of English fans. I dont need to remind you of the last 2 world cups
This CCTV was only a few hundred, there were over 100k in Manchester so a little pocket.

Look at club level then. Look at teams in Europe. Look at the national sides.

I believe its had a negative impact for the Man Utd fans that are staying in Manchester next week for their game against Chelsea.
There will be no fan zones set up now, so the behaviour last night has spoiled that for next week.
