Lol at you lot...I appreciate the depth of your sympathy

What I actually did was cut the slot out the correct size but too low so the vent wouldn't follow the lines of the bumper...still dumb though

no carbon required Chris, I made sure I kept the section I cut out and will fix it from behind the then solder, I mean plastic weld the join

Ian neither of those joins are soldered so I shall be getting them sorted properly this time...just glad the battery wasn't connected

Got lots done this weekend, despite coming to an abrupt halt on Friday night when I realised I didn't have any top bolts...saved by Zak, I set to work on Saturday night and powered by Old Speckled Hen alone managed to swap out my front suspension in a couple of hours. I decided that I wanted greater compliance; this is a fast road car and occasional track car not track focused so I want a reasonable degree of comfort. Coupled with the fact that by the time I stick a GT30R on it our roads are so $hite a stiff car is just going to bounce from ridge to pothole on WOT. So I've swapped the Cusco pillow ball top mounts (now for sale ), with some Whiteline 'max camber' top mounts.

I also got my oil cooler core fitted...looks shady but its solid as a rock and I'll be able to access the lines by removing the arch liner.

I had to cut all but two fixings to remove my splitter, needs to be done thought so I can repair my bumper vent damage...I'm still not happy with it thought so I may be asking for some help...ahem...Chris

I've started to think about how to fab the ducting and I think I'm going to use some stiff plastic...similar to the arch liner material.

Best of all front sub frame is back in...its not complete yet as I'm changing my four point brace for a Whiteline one (the blue one is also for sale), so I'll be torquing everything up once that has arrived. I'm also changing the worn steering rack bush for a Whiteline version. Good to have a clear floor again though

£1.60 e-bay bargain...before.

after

update really like the oil cooler vent, very trick. steering rack bushes might be a PITA and break when trying to remove, make sure you WD40 them up

Cheers Daz

lol, Arch sadly you are right...but I'm living the dream

A little progress this weekend, mostly due to waiting for my engine bay paint...more on that in a bit. Steering rack with it's new Whiteline bush (thanks Zak), ARB and skid plate all back in and torqued up; I not planning on removing it but we shall see...

Cr@p pic but you get the idea...

So back to the paint, it was waiting for me when I got in last night but after a test spray it looks like the wrong blooming colour...I'll have a look this evening once its gone off but I'm pretty sure it's wrong, the paint is turning into a right pita

the bay is actually a shade of grey rather than silver...I've got a rattle can of external paint that matches very well, sadly I now have two cans of different shades of grey that don't match

to answer your question Jon; I have a shade thats too dark and the latest purchase which appears too light

I'd be down with that if i didn't have to paint over where i've removed the battery tray

I've spoken to brown Brothers (paint suppliers), and they are going to lend me their colour swatch book...so fingers crossed. Can't believe its going to cost me over £40 in paint, ahhh well my next bike frame is gonna be grey

In a way i want there to be damage so i could change some things, i've never been 100% happy with that engine as it always seemed to suffer from det and wouldn't take anything above 1.7 bar boost for some strange reason

cheers zak...not sure how long exactly, but hopefully in the next six weeks or so...it's not been cheap but I like to think I've been smart (sometimes anyway ), with how I've approached this so it's affordable

one step forward, two steps back; A brace painted (not the correct shade of grey, but I'm not spending any more money on bl00dy paint!), and fitted, front mount core back in, battery tray\battery refitted and swirl pot in. However now I've actually looked at the pics I think I need to spray the brace black as it looks $hite at present. Should work better than way round as I also plan to paint the alloy rad black.

I had some bad news from Richard Bulmar at Tracktive, the Hydra version I have does not support AVCS, anyone want to buy an ECU

Motivation at an all time low at present...perhaps I'll leave the car and go play on my bike instead.

Can the ecu software or hardware not be upgraded to support avcs?

Fight through those 'I hate my subaru' blues, it will be worth it in the end.

As per Banny - Any software/hardware updates for AVCS? Or is it a case of selling it and buiying something else?

Thanks Ian, same goes to you

Jon, yeah blooming frustrating as I thought I'd got a decent plan in place too.

Banny, no upgrade path available unfortunately; I think there was a hardware revision that allowed drive-by-wire and AVCS functionality.

Stu, very much so.

Ross, I'll have to sell this one and buy another. Bloody subaru blues indeed.
