cheers Clive and Mr Flipsone, should be some real progress when i get back in the uk; my steering linkage is done and my bottom end is back from SMG...i hope to have it running very soon

cheers Lee, will make sure i give that crappy 2.5 a kick...I'll be at the workshop tomorrow mate, gagging to drive it now and i've got a wagon squadron do August bank holiday i really don't want to mis out on

I will be down tonight! need to get cracking as only spend 1 day a week on the motor!
I have scaffolding up around the house at the moment so I can do the gutters and paint the house so have been busy with that!
Must get my priorities right and work more on the cars! both still need doing!
If you need any help sticking it in the hole then let me know
im busy but i know a good mechanic!

Block back from SMG...just need my oil squirters and head bolts back too
Steering linkage, that now fits...just need some longer bolts which I'm hoping to get tomorrow. I've included the exploded pic of the bearings so you can see how they work and why I had it done at an engineering shop...
Finally, a massive thanks to Allen for knocking these plugs up for the inlet pipe
much neater and less to snag hoses on...and a bit of bling too

Refering to you steering coupling:-

my day job is an ultrasonic engineer for BAe System's, to inspect a cut and shut on that sort of component is monster hard to do(verging on impossible)you would need to have it x-rayed instead.good luck finding someone that'll put their stamp on it though.regards'

Been a while since I updated this...I think I hit the modding wall a few weeks back after I realised the steering linkage had been put together incorrectly and missing a couple of Squadron outings I was really looking forward too, just seemed like I was never going to get the blessed thing running again
I needed a bit of motivation to get on and thankfully seeing the results Granby has achieved I found it, thanks Ian His wagon looks fantastic and should really shift, if you haven't seen his thread you are missing out https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...g-between.html
Back in the saddle then...I returned the steering linkage to Limit Engineering (limitengineering.co.uk), and Ian (yep, another one), swapped the uj end's around for me again. Can't recommend them enough; super helpful and a fellow owner. Steering rack is now in and I'm almost ready to put the car back on four wheels for the first time in months. Oh, one possible issue is that one of the hardpipes from the steering rack is in a different position on the Sepc C rack...looks OK but I'm considering swapping it for a newage one just in case 
One last task before sitting it down; fit the speedo converter...I can now I've realised (thank you Steven!), that I need an electrical not a mechanical converter. It's no wonder I couldn't find the cable to fit it too
I've ordered the converter from Milsport and Ralph is super helpful, even checking why I was buying a converter for a UK car; top man.
Got a few more little things done too...
I've finally reapplied my brake decals, this time lacquering them to try and keep them in-situ.
Happy with the results, but only time will tell if they stay...
brought a Jun grill from Eversham (another cracking wagon project), preped and painted black.
I chose black because I don't have the skills to match the silver and haven't really decided what to do about paint as I still need to pain my bonnet. It lives up to its name, the vent is much larger so should help cooling the rad and oil cooler.
Got my catch can from Zak at Mocom, its a great bit of kit; internally baffled with a fitting for a drain hose at the bottom, 2x12mm and 1x19mm for the head and crank breathers and a -6n fitting for a return to sump. The inlets are mounted at an angle to make the best use of the internal baffle which, I guess should aid oil separation. I've modded a water bottle cage (idea courtesy of Scott), the fit is perfect and made a spacer so when I attach it to the bulk head it doesn't foul the loom. Cleaned it up and sprayed it and now it looks like a stock water bottle holder! I'm not going to fit it until the car is on its wheel because I can't open the doors wide enough
I want to run my battery flush against the wing but the loom won't reach. I've sourced the end terminals and wire from another car and want to extent my existing loom with them. I have barrel connectors but can't find any for the 7mm and 10mm main live cables...any ideas anyone?

If its space you are after, a slimmer, gel filled battery would be better, or relocate to the boot, would it not?

Why do you want to do that? I worry sometimes, that my battery terminals can be touched through the gap of the wing and the bonnet. Thinking that someone can do something to it Gone in 60 Seconds style
