I had a similar situation many years ago in my mk1 fiesta (I was 17 at the time) and the fella was in a suzuki fallover wagon. He got past me when I stopped at a pelican crossing and he overtook me, on a red and with someone crossing!! I flash him as he does it and at the next set of lights he gets out with a monkey wrench and an ape-like body.

These days I'd follow the person to where they live, then go home. Look on Internet at sites like 192.com where you can get their phone number (alternatively electoral role in library gives you names and get the phone number from there). Then, armed with their name, address, telephone number and the car reg cause merry hell. Nothing worse than getting strange phonecalls, sugar in petrol tank, brake fluid on roof, diamond emery cloth over the windscreen and cabs at three in the morning for a month!!

 

I had a similar thing happen to me - bloke in a rover was in right hand lane queue of traffic - i went to go up left hand lane (empty) - both lanes can be used to go same way - anyway - he obviously was peed off that someone had the wherewithall to anticipate and do this, instead of him getting stuck in a queue - so he pulls to the side, nearly hitting me (luckily I was quick enough on the brakes) stopping me getting through. I slotted in behind him, flashing lights, on horn etc.

Anyway traffic moves off and GF tells me to leave it - I didn't, I stayed behind him, mainly because his response to my light flashing was to put up the finger in his mirror.

I followed him home, and got out of car outside his house - he obviously thought I was a nutter about to lamp him. I just explained to him why he shouldn't have cut me up, and that he was indeed in the wrong - he thought about my argument and agreed, then apologised - 'sorry mate, I didn't realise you had a right of way too', 'learn summit new everyday - sorry again!'
