Some of the high spec markers will fire up and over 30 ***** per second such as the Egos, Angels and Dye DM series. Thats a scary rate of fire

I get outshot by the Angels - but my flatline means I get the shots in WAY before they do (and the e-grip gives me a very high rate of fire even on semi-auto)

Make sure you have a big wad of bog roll in your pocket, as if you get hit in the goggles during a game, is impossible to get off using your fingers/gloves etc, plus make sure to wipe the splatted paint AWAY from the center of the goggles tho, as this will reduce help the smear

Also, i find one of the most painfull places to get hit (and a very common one too) is your fingers + hands, especially if its cold
The place i go to has cheap fingerless ones with a flexible plastic armor on the back, only a couple of quid, but by eck they pay for themselves within the first hour

Paintballing is great fun, but its oh so easy to get carried away, go crazy, and go diving over logs and into hedges, you pay for it the next day tho, im always stiff as a board for a good few days after

Thats an impressive neck bruise by the way corradoboy, bet you felt that in the shower when you got home

30 ***** per second?

They were struggling to get 6 p/s when I had an Automag (many years ago). Even with an electric hopper that is some going without chewing the ***** up.

How do they manage that?

That pic wasn't mine, and the one I posted was from Google, although I have had similar and they do indeed hurt.

It does indeed look rather painful
I was shot right on the tip of my left little finger and the ball bounced off
It hurt like hell for days, and i thought the feeling would never return

Had a ball break across the webbing between my thumb and index finger, trapping it against the stock of my gun....

Should have seen the mess that made, could hardly move my thumb for a week due to the swelling.

Paintball rocks, airsoft sux

I was once court marshalled and the punishment was the firing squad. We were allowed one item from the forest floor for protection. One guy got a dead shot on my vegetables. I was thankful for that piece of bark.

Last time I went they sold these in the shop

I would also recommend:

Knee pads - When you dive onto the floor army style, you don't break your knee on a branch, tree stump etc

Something to cover your neck (see pics above)

A wooly hat - This one is probably the most important - Covers your head slightly and more to the point your ears - Get hit once in the ear and you will know about it...

Not me personally, but I was at a paintball event a while ago, and me and a friend had been hit so we were sitting on the sidelines watching the rest of them fight it out. My mate got a direct hit right between the plums while he was sitting on the banking. He screamed like a banshee and tried to take his mask off but the marshalls wouldn't let him. He finished up puking in his mask down to the pain.

Take your own hat - Gloves and Knee pads are less than £10

You're likely end up on the same team unless there are loads of you.

Don't waste rounds either - Can get expensive if you have a busy trigger finger.

Stick with someone who's done it before, or if you're feeling really wussy - Stay near a marshal!!

Just make sure that you at least have a couple of mad kamikaze moments

If you freeze up and stay in the same place all the time, or never go for it (its a like a wasted day really doing that), youve got to experience the rush of 10 people shooting at you all at once, and although scary and painful, god it gives you one heck of an adrenaline rush, which is the whole point i think

Just go for it, and have a good day, everyone will have a mountain of tails and stories afterwards, they always do

Wearing a hoody can really help, as its protection for the ears + head, and with gloves as well your ready to rock and roll

Try not to get shot on any muscles that are tensed!

I got shot twice on my upper arm at the shoulder and the whole of my upper arm turned a yellowy purple for over a week. Its way more painful than a soft body or butt shot.

I normally wear old jeans. I keep telling myself the thicker materiel helps if I get shot. I'm probably wrong but it makes me feel better. Plus you'll be a bit warmer if its cold

Once my team was a player short so one of the marshalls joined us for a game. The pair of us had snuck up to a partition and I signalled I could hear someone behind the wall so without looking to see who/what was there he pointed his gun around the partition and fired - all of one meter right into some poor ******* crown jewels
He was quite a big fellar and after the game he was crouched over babling like a baby with the marshall who shot him trying to hide the fact he was wetting himself laughing

I've been a few times and it's great fun. Like the others said, just get stuck in and have a few kamikaze moments as it's not something you do every weekend

Enjoy!

combats - jeans are heavier and harder to run in.

Play like I did once (and only bloody ONCE) T-shirt and shorts. I kid you not. You REALLY learn to run lots then

I'd been playing there for over a decade by that time (marshalled at the site a few times: tourneys and fill in at weekends) so they all knew me.

I didn't turn up like that - it all kind of grew out of a conversation. Next thing is: me and a mate are stripped down to our shorts and walking out into a game. I didn't get shot... my mate did.

(I tend to play in combats and a t-shirt now.... with a small padded area for the chest and elbow / knee protectors)

When holding position, behind cover. Be aware the other team may sneak round the far edges of the playing field and creep up behind....usually aiming for the **** and firing off several rounds (not that we ever do that )
