Peed off with the 335i already

I could very probably embarrass a lot of expensive machinery in my stripped out 17yo pug 205, but then again it has the structural integrity of a chinese takeaway carton, rattles my teeth and in no way would i want to drive any distance in it. I would get a bad back and tinitus. However i would buy that Audi, because unlike some people i appreciate that the car is designed for the road first and the race track very probably never.

Congratulations and how much work have you done to this amazing rover 45, still standard suspension? no engine mods?, full interior?.

hee hee ,i dont deny my zs is modified ,its pushing a massive 205-210 bhp but yes it sounds from the description just like your pug .I know the audi /beemer is/are road cars firstly,i still think they are a bit lame though for the money .....plus its fun winding up badge snobs who often seem to think they are a cut above us peasant types and drive about like they own the road .

out of interest ,which model caterham and which model boxster ,a boxster s for example i would expect to beat or be close in performance to a lower powered caterham.

dissapointingly slow as standard ,check out this fifth gear track video at castle combe 335i vs audi S5,poor lap times ,i can lap quicker than that with 140 bhp less than the Audi in an old rover 400 based mg zs
YouTube - Fifth Gear - Audi S5 vs BMW 335i

The twin turbo BMW engine is already being tuned upwards of 400bhp in the states with no changes other than exhaust and chip, such is the level to which it has been 'detuned'

Heavy, yes, but don't foget in that clip they are driven by someone with some, but not that much, talent who was showboating to a fair degree.
On top of that, and more importantly, what makes a good road car often doesn't make a good track car and vice-a-versa. Neither are "range topping" either and neither are set up for the track.
But I expect you'd know that

Trying to work out what bike you have from the photo - looks like a Hustler? And I'm not going to get involved in the BMW vs Volvo debate - my dad had a Volvo - end of story :-)

The 335i when tuned is an absolute monster and to think they put the same lump in the 135i
In my old M5 there was a trick to the traction, if you simply switched it off it was still on to a manner, if you held your finger on the button for 20Secs it would disengage totally leaving you to use all 400bhp in Furious anger
Enjoy your holiday, and enjoy the best when you get back e

Cheers
Yeah I nearly got a 135i coupe for a day recently while the dealer was sorting a a minor scratch I noticed after collection. It comes with a rudimentary LSD using electronics, but still not the same as a proper mechanical job.
My 335i is the same. A quick push lets you get a little bit of a slide going but holding it down gives you full control.
Sadly it's a work trip, although some would argue that point (it's for the game developers conference )

not what they are, but whats on them. the only pics i have are from flying, i'm not geeky enough to take pics of them in the hanger. Now if it was a quadroplex messer dowty taileron actuator, oh man heaven, oil leaks everywhere, . Still it's saturday, can't mention work.

That is a interesting question, it varies depending on what the air ranks decide is the best idea at any given moment. It should have been 2010, Treble One (abstante ra ra ra ) have been told they will be around till 2012 at least. Although at the moment we are under taking a massive life extension program for the jets coming through the hanger, coupled with the fact that the Saudis want more jets apart from the Tranche 2 jets they bought, your guess is as good as mine. I would expect you will see them for another 3-4 years at the moment.

The Saudis are updating the GRs to GR4 level if i'm not mistaken, and they bought the 72 Typhoons, should be interesting to see what will happen.

Are we getting a smaller number of Typhoons compared to the existing number of F3s etc ? ie is the number of front line combat aircraft being reduced by the back door by the introduction of the Typhoon ?
