Here:
Will take some 'action' shots at the drift day next weekend
Did my first mtb trip in her today, really is the perfect companion, but the runflats HAVE to go. The body control is uncanny, and the steering feel is beautiful especially with the lovely chunky wheel, but the second you hit an imperfection it all goes horribly wrong. Why oh why do they feel the need to fit them!!!!!
Also....bloody heck it's tail happy! not sure if its the open diff or the run flats (or a combo of the both) but it makes the M5 feel like 4wd!!!
All in all, really really pleased with it!

When I booked the day I had an E39 M5, but have changed out of it since. I'm not going to cancel the day just because I have changed car, especially as the 335i, be it estate form or not, is pretty much on par with a stock E46 M3.
I live in central london, with no garage, so no room for a proper toy, and I need an estate for all the mountainbiking and snowboarding I do. The roads I drive in Wales and Scotland and the Alps are some of the best in the world, therefore I require the practicality of an estate, with the performance of a sports car. The 335i touring with AP brakes, a Quaife LSD and a safe 380bhp remap will be just that, for less than £35k.
Does that about cover it??

Ed,
Does your DSC not have three settings?
1) off
2) on - nany state, no fun
3) on - but allows a degree of slip and oversteer
My old 1 series did, and in "3" it worked almost like a limited slip unit.

No but an RS6 would although slightly dearer than £35K
What I cant understand is why you feel the need to turn ESP off within 5 seconds of turning the ignition on? Why on earth do you need to do that on a daily basis? Or do you drive like a tool everywhere?
Have your wheelspin kicks when the time is right not in "Central London" when pulling out of a junction.
I've driven one of these on numerous occasions and driven as they should be i.e not hoofing it everywhere they are a lovely car.
If you are hell bent on a great handling estate car then look at the Volvo V70R. Now that is an awesome handling estate car. It will put the BMW to utter shame in ALL areas apart from maybe the "oooh he's got a brand new BMW factor" but then who gives a toss about that these days?

FWIW I already had an RS6, and sold it to get the M5 as the ride and handling was appalling. Incidentally, I paid 33.5k for the RS6 with 30k miles on the clock.
I can't be arsed to 'discuss' the rest of your points as they are 100% pure troll. And signing off with a doesn't change that.

LOL @trolling wind your over sensitive neck in.
That wasn't my intention.
I just cant understand why on earth you'd want that particular car for your particular style of driving ( i think i've put that politely enough).
Or are you one of these people where the image you portray is paramount???
In that case it would explain your selection of car?
Incedently have you ever really looked at the V70R?
Its an astonishing car straight out of the box.
Its 300bhp with plenty of tuning potential from the likes of Swede Speed etc.
For a big heavy car the ride quality and handling is trully incredible.
Put it in sport mode and then turn the ESP off and I'm sure it would suit you down to the ground.
I'm not a BMW hater either I have a 2007 120D M sport as my daily driver but thats not the issue here.

Okay, if you are not a troll, then you obviously are not reading my posts fully / properly / at all. It really is simple. Re-read post 45 for starters.
As others on here will know from my countless other threads trying to decide what car to try to fill all my various (and sometimes mismatched) requirements I've looked long and hard, for numerous months, to try to find something that will combine the practicality of an estate with a well sorted rear-drive (hence no interest in the Volvo, plus it's bigger than I needed) chassis, a torquey, fairly high-revving engine and reasonable mpg. I couldn't give crap about the fact it's a BMW, but the reality is the 335i M sport touring (and I use the full name as that is the specific model that fits my needs) is the only car that ticks all of my boxes. If image was paramount I would not have sold the RS6 or I would have got the M5 touring I tested a few weeks back instead.
As to how, where and when I choose to drive it, and why, I suggest there are more important things for you to be worrying about.
thanks
Ed

Oh and just to point out what I consider 'trolling'
Casting aspersions. Making assumptions. Eg. trolling. If you knew the facts you would know I don't even drive the car daily, I use my scooter to commute to work, the car gets used at weekends to get me to Dorking / Wales / scotland / Devon to go bike riding.
Again, you are making assumptions and suggesting I'm purposefully wheelspinning the car out of a junction How can you say that is not trolling? The reality I described was pulling out from the dealers into fast flowing traffic (if you know BMW Ruxley it pulls right onto a main road). And the last time I wheelspan 'for kicks' I was about 18. I get my kicks on track (eg. the drift day) or in the mountains. FYI I'm now 31.
Who are you to dictate how a car is meant to be driven? The whole point of the M Sport range is for 'performance oriented drivers'. Why do you think Evo mag have had the exact same model I've just bought on long term test til last month???
I'm sorry, but trying to suggest A V70R is a better handling car and a better overall value proposition can only be trolling
Is that over-sensitive enough for you???

been doing a bit of research on 335i and 335d. Fuel consumption of 23 on the 335i seems a bit rough, havent driven one but what would it be like compared to a newage STI?
Ps i know the pain of not having a limited slip diff as i had a 330d.

I own a volvo S60R, ie the same as V70R, and I own a bmw(535d), the bmw handles alot better than my s60r, the volvo is really good, but doesnt cut the mustard againest a BMW.
take a look at the top gear test track times -
volvo s60r - 1.35.0
bmw 535d - 1.31.8
and all other bmw's are faster on there track compared to the volvo.
sorry buddy

Come back when you've learnt how to engage in a conversation without insults and aspersions. You wouldn't do it in person so why do it on an internet forum??
