Excellent Hard work to do or just a nice gradual thing?

The other half is trying to lose some weight too now, and might go on LL very soon.

So i do a couple of brisk 20 minute walks a week and 4-5 miles a weekend, loving it getting out in the fresh air and stuff the weather come back tired but on cloud nine.

Well done to all the S-net chaps who have made effort this year
No, thank you for the advice! More exercise is the next step for me, I currently walk about 20 mins per day but I'm not really built for running (far too ungainly for that).

I feel healthier than I have in a long time. It's 5 months since I quit smoking, my diet is vastly improved, now I just need to get to a decent level of fitness.

Fair play, taking your time dont hurt, as long as you are not under any health risks.

I've just done an hour of weights at the gym, home to meat and tattie pie with veg... I'm playing 5- a-side at 8 for an hour. Stuff it down but burn it off is the way to do it

Good work to those improving their lifestyles. Exercise is the key to weight loss IMHO. I know so many women on 'diets' but they do naff all exercise.

My downfall is drink as I must drink about 40 units a week on average. I'm going to cut that back though..... he says

no worries mate. To think people took the **** rotton the first time I posted pics lol.
Glad it helped you along the journey.

Yim, I think you look ok there mate lol
Weight is only an indicator imo. Health and well being is the important part

STi, exercise is indeed a factor, there is no doubting that. But 1 year ago I was swimming 5 days a week and running 5-8kms every morning at the gym. And plateaued at 110kg. Even with "sensible" intake my weight would not budge. So now I am active as well as maintaining a healthy intake

For that reason the abstainance was used I think there is a point you can reach that when exercise alone wont do the trick.

The keystone of it all is a sensible intake of carbs and fats based on your daily useage of energy, and your bodys ability to deal with the food inside you.
With the abstainance I have been able to reset my way of thinking about food, my relationship with it, and most of all, given me another chance at a healthy life

The change in your outlook has been clear for all to see. It's been impressive. I take it you've been checked over by the docs etc before embarking on this programme? Sorry if you've said you did I've just been glancing at your threads previously.

Glad it shows mate. Kinda disappointed that some on the course have NOT adopted a new attitude. They are no doubt the ones who will return in a years time.

Yup I most certainly did get a full £55 check over by the doctor before embarking on this, LighterLife will not accept you on the course until you get signed off by a doctor
I have been back a few times to the docs since, and he is delighted with the improvement in health.

Other forums have very successful ones I like the idea.
Cheers dude, comments appreciated.

Just wanted to add, about 4 years ago I was diagnosed with seriously high blood pressure. I have been battling it for ages now, but currently its at a much lower point than it has been for a long time. Well within safe limits.

Thats been one of my main inspirations for this "journey" And will be good fuel to keep me in a safe area.

Todays weight is......

198.6lbs

Goal achieved

Total time, 11 weeks (8 on abstainance, 1 normal eating, 2 on management (protein only)
Averaging the 10 weeks on the actual plan at my normal water intake, thats been 630 litres

Cheers Bri, the course costs £66 a week for 28 food packs, a meeting, a pop in meeting, lots of support materials etc. Well worth it imo

Now moving to the second goal. 189-185lbs, which is where I plan to stay now. But the journey there is no rush. However I dont see it taking too long
Moving to the week 2 stage of intake now, so introducing other foods

SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO chuffed to be here. Birthday in a few weeks time. Glad to have reached goal by that time

What was your original weight Snazy? Have you done before/after pictures?

What effects has it had on things like clothing? Waist size, chest size etc

630litres of water in 10 wks

Work that out at 63 litres a week or 9 litres per day Fuc*in hell mate, no wonder you've lost the weight with having to walk back and forward to the toilet 20-30 times a day

lol yup 9 litres a day is average, more if I have time
3 litres on the log since I got up at 9am lol I have always had a high fluid intake, but not usually water. NOW, I cant get enough water... im not happy without a bottle of water near by.

Start weight was 265lbs / 120.4 kgs

Clothing you would not believe lol
From a 40-42 waist to a 34
T Shirts and tops from XXL to Medium
Even shoes are slightly looser now.

Before and after, I have posted but here goes.
(this pic was taken at the end of the 8 weeks of abstainance, I have lost just under a stone since )

Got my official ones to collect from Lighter Life, will post them asap as they are at the 11 week mark, and I have a tan (ok slightly more colour) in them

9 litres a day must be considered the max if not excessive amount of water intake per day? I take these food packs replace the salt you'll lose?

Not really, 500ml per hour is recommended where possible for a continuous intake. I take weekly or twice weekly dehydration tests, and am absolutly fine. No lack of anything in my blood either, so healthier than I have been for a while now

9 litres in one hit, would be seriously stupid, but over the course of an 18 hour day..... its really no big deal Not excessive.

High for the average person yes, but hey im far from average lol

Well, its been oooooooh 3 months since I last posted about this, and 4 months since coming out of abstainance....

I have to report, the gains have been shocking.
In health that is.

Crave fruit like no ones business, drink of choice is STILL water/squash. I can eat junk when the mood suits and still not put weight on, mainly because of another gain.... in activity level.

As per other post, back to gym today, which feels great. I can run about and play with dog like there is no tomorrow, football is fun lol. Now when my clothes come back from washing they are a lovely fit, rather than doing the whole, stretching of them to fit properly lol.

Im so looking forward to Florida now its unbelievable, the comfort of the seat on the flight, the not getting tired in the heat, and showing off to my mate out there who thought I was doomed to be a fatty for life now.

So the message is clear.... Lighter Life, abstainance based diets CAN work and DO work. Maybe not for all, but my message to anyone wanting to lose weight is loud and clear....
DONT listen to the doubters who say it does not work, it will kill you, it will harm you, and you will balloon afterwards... Some might, but others certainly do not.

Got a few stone to lose..... give it a go.

webbie, as per an earlier post in this thread, what about setting up a health and fitness forum? Maybe do a poll to see what kind of interest there is and then take it from there

(if anything to keep Snazy away from all the others - only joking Snazy )
