Putting it simply, there were no noise regs at donnington last year, so Matt chanced his arm with NO silencers this year, and got away with it. Had they enforced the rule, he would have simply gone home and made one.
The times were incredible on an ever changing track. Club challenge was likewise with 6 cars in the 1.18's round there.
Duncan,
In all honesty I was expecting more this year from the Club Challenge boys at Dono... Iain Litchfield was lapping Dono in the 1:19's for TunerGP in 2005, with a full road going Spec C, running 350bhp.
Damp wasnt the issue really - the snow sort of limits grip or confidence that grip will be there when you need it. iirc for the pro final it was clear on one section of the course and snowing at McLeans.
RCM got a sound check at TOTB last year when using the no silencer exhaust. They just went back to the truck and swapped it for the other one. No going home for those guys.
I think most people including myself would welcome an update from Zen including some pictures. I appreciate they are busy and have a business to run but surely this is good PR
Paul and Liz have been having a deserved break since the car ran at Donington, so there isnt anything to update yet. There is lots to talk about once they get back to working on the car and getting ready to run the car again.
No major work to speak of on the demo car at the moment - we are very busy with customer work.
Probably wont be time to update the thread much between now and Knockhill, which is 24 days away
We have a to do list! Depending on how quickly we get through it, we may or may not have time for an open day before Knockhill.
Matt has worked very hard on the Gobstopper over the past months, take a close look at the car and you will see some pretty huge changes FWIW, I love their killer exhaust note
Good to see you all again yesterday - car looks incredible up close and the new developments for KH will be another major leap forward with plenty more to come too. One to watch up there for sure
I was surprised to read in Jap. Perf. that the Zen car blew a head gasket and fubard the block..... is this right as there is no mention of it on this thread, so hence why I was surprised? Or did the mag get it wrong?
