And if you think I'm exaggerating the engine?
This is a stock 335i 0-150mph.
YouTube - BMW 335I 0-150 mph
The people running the piggback ECU are apparently seeing low 12 1/4 mile runs on crappy US fuel!

Power available from 1500rpm is great and sounds lovely though.

Trust me - you can be allegedly cruising at 100mph then floor it and allegedly the kickdown and shove up to 140-150mph is allegedly very impressive! ^_^
Not quite as marked as in my old RS6 but really not percievably that much different from a seat-of-the-pants feel point of view!

Ed - I've heard that if you floor it in 6th (on an Autobahn), well over 160 is achievable in the 335d so I would think the 335i is the same/better - apparently the limiter doesn't quite kick in quickly enough (or something). A mate reckons he got an indicated 165 in his - not bad for a "stealthy" estate car!
I've not got near that yet but it's definitely good at slightly silly speeds.

I love thread resurrections
Something life affirming about the fact that you are not the only person in the world surfing through life’s back catalogues on a computer

This is my first ever thread resurrection! It was even an accident.... I have never been nasty!!!
60-100mph - where it counts
BM 335i - 7.4secs
BM 335d - 8 secs
my old saab 9k - 4.2 secs (Modded vs standard always wins )
Does shows the 335i is still a bit quicker than the 335d though...

Hmm - that test I posted up has the 335d with a quicker 60-100 time - 7.7 for the d, 8 for the i - TBH, both are pretty close for pretty much every performance benchmark.
The important ones are those without a * or ** (press cars and Evolve cars)
What the hell did you do to your Saab to make it that quick?! That's proper supercar territory.

Yeah - Even if the 335i and 335d were the same speed, you'd still choose the diesel and it's going to be more tractable and need less of a spanking to get the performance.
The 335d is just such a mad idea that I'd need to have that!
The 9k is fun - My attempts to bring it up to 'modern standards' but keep it a decent cruiser went well, but I over-egged things a bit and ended up at about 460bhp. To be fair 60-100 is it's trump card. 0-60 is certainly not...

460bhp?!! Holy cr4p! Was that all through the front wheels? Are you still alive or a ghost? Sounds fun - but flipping lethal!
It's amazing how different diesel and petrol engines are yet BMW seem to get very similar performance from both - albeit in very different ways.
I know of someone who has got their 335i up to 460bhp now - I believe it's rather nippy.

ha! I'm still here! Don't worry brakes and handling have seen refreshes too..
1st gear is not much good, 2nd is boost limited (about 350bhp) - but 3rd will launch 55-115 nicely on full boost. - No torque steer or wheelspin even with 450ft lbs (in the dry) on 205 profile tyres. The LSD and a smoothy smooth map helps a lot though.
And if I had the cash I'd happily get the beemer

The Saab sounds amazing, a mapped GTR is only doing 60-100mph in 4.0, slower in the wet because it scrabbles a bit in 3rd gear, and that is with four wheel drive. I think the Saab would be a bit of a tyre shredder!
