Don't worry, I wrote a 1 pence cheque to every person I knew....With plenty of funds available.
I wonder how much it costs the bank to process a whole chequebook of one penny cheques

Hang on, I'm confused. don't any of you have authorised overdrafts? I get charged x% of the overdraft balance each month, effectively hardly anything. Actually it's nothing as I rarely go overdrawn but the point stands.
Or are you with banks that charge you £35 for going into your *authorised* overdraft???

Mind you they should be pleased with profits from personal current accounts, after all loads seem to be losing money on thir past large deals!

My Grandad used to be a bank manager, in the good old days when you could nip in and get a decision, good or bad, in a brief face to face meeting.
Anyway, that aside, I could explode with the aggro I've had. I had a CC with a decent limit and after a bit of lens buying had it close to the limit for a bit but then paid it all off. Imagine my horror to find that without warning they cut my limit to 10% of what it was before and then stuffed me £25 per transaction for going 'over limit'. I even paid off the balance each month on-line. I wrote to them demanding my several hundred quid back 2 months ago, still no reply.
