my take on this, people used to abuse our parking spaces, the ones we have allocated for the vacuums, this was pissing me off, tried to do things nicely, including painting the tarmac at my expense to draw fact to they use of the bays.

bellends just dumped cars in them and went for a wander to asda accross the road or the car dealers next door

put up signs saying "for customer use only" = little effect

once the clamping signs went up, the takings from the vacuums doubled, we still get the odd bellend who ignores the signs but we usually go outside and shout at them

they are allowed to park in them allocated spaces because "i will only be a few mins"

yes, you will, and so will every other bellend on the road, get it shifted, honestly what gives these chumps the right to block a source of my income, its because they will only be a few mins, well that's alright then

last week i had to go to a neighbouring town to pick up some workwear, the shop i was visiting is on the high street, sometimes you can get parked outside the shop, driving past the place is rammed, so i turn down a side street, i see a perfect spot, then see the clamp signs, so i drove away, parked miles away in a perfectly good spot and walked back to the shop, as i was passing this "mini clamp zone" a fat wife pulls up and dumps her car blocking 2 people in, thinking i`m doing the right thing, i casually tell her its a clamp zone.

you guessed it, its ok for her to park as "she will only be 2 mins"

ohh how i laughed out loud when i left the shop and saw her arguing with a clamper = PMSL

it made the walk back to my car most enjoyable

there really would not be such a problem if the average joe was not such a fooken lazy arsed knobber "who is only going to be a few mins"

expect this "problem" to grow more and more as

1. more drivers on the roads
2. great british public become more and more lazy/pikey

my mate actually let the tyre down on his birds car to get the clamp off, and drove off!

**** so why the hell did i buy a wheel clamp that covers the wheel nuts,if you can just let the tyre down and get it off that way anyway.what's the point of it being TUV approved and anti pick lock..effing **** and ****.

Is it a crime if i use one so my mum doesnt have to walk far!"

Why not just drop your mum off at the entrance then go and find a space?

You cannot just remove a clamp by letting the tyres down anymore, I was clamped recently, the bloody things have a chain that wraps round your drive shaft/suspension and all sorts. Right bugger it was.

Spoke to the guy that removed it, he was actually OK and it was my fault for getting it in the first place. And he said the only way you can get modern clamps off without the key is with a grinder.

btw, it wasn't for parking in a disabled bay

It has been mentioned in posts about disabled people parking in mother & child spaces when the disabled bays are full... in our local Tesco is it the other way round...Mother & Child parkers are a PIA!!!

The mother & kiddie spaces are right outside the main entrance, and the disabled bays are always being used by people to who either 'pop' to the cash machines,or sit and wait whilst their partner/friend etc goes and does the weekly shop..

As above it seems people who choose to procreate seem to think it perfectly acceptable to park in spaces which are intended for people who have been hit by a disability

They should just put the windows through of people who park in disabled spaces without a badge...

As for special spaces for those who choose to spawn, and then let the said spawn run around the store screaming, shouting, getting in my way and generally pissing me off.. personally - I think they should leave the bloody things at home. People don't bring their dogs to supermarkets and I'd say they'd be better behaved and more hygienic.

All in my humble opinion of course.

LOL - I hope you have triplets when it is 'your time' Also there are rules ever since that 'Home Alone' movie and you can now get done by Social Services for leaving rug-rats at home!

LOL...

I don't quite have that problem. I avoid trolleys and use a basket. Only one "incident" so far in 20 years of shopping. Turned around and a little "aeroplane impersonator" ran straight into the basket, then collapsed on the floor holding his head screaming.

I couldn't gain sensible conversation with him so I erm... panicked. Asked the first girl I saw if "it" was theirs, then walked off.

Well done Asda. Hopefully they'll start doing this at our local store soon.

If Asda own the land then surely they have the right to set 'rules'.

If you dont like it - go shop somehwere else, or do it online so you dont have to be near other people's kids or disabled people who are getting 'special treatment'.

I'm sure the majority of you would be upset if someone decided to park in front of your drive or on it 'just for 2 mins to nip to a shop'.

What about if somebody has sprained an ankle or knee, they are temp disabled, do they not have a right to use the disabled bays???

lets face it quite a few "registered disabled" are con artists just sponging off the state...

People who park accross 2 spaces are the worst.

They should have their cars 'dinged' with a sledge hammer. Then they should have carrots stuck up their noses.

The only reason parent and child spaces are there is because some bright spark in the marketing department looked at the figures and decided that families spend the most on their weekly shop. Therefore lets give them special parking bays for their gas guzzling 4x4s and ****ty people carriers as an incentive to make them shop here. Yeah make them a bit wider so it's easier to get push chairs out etc., doesn't matter that they take up half the car park so that the rest of us have to park further away and sometimes struggle to get a space. Of course once one supermarket had done it they all had to follow suit, otherwise xxx supermarket would be seen to be more child friendly than them so could potentially lose customers.

Now there are those of us who see through this bit of marketing and don't give a monkies. If a parent and child space is free for my nice car then why shouldn't I use it, after all it's only a lifestyle choice that says if you can park there or not, and in my book that's discrimination. So I'll continue to use them. If they try to fine me I'd like to see them try and enforce it. They do not have the power to issue fines. Don't think they would like the bad PR that would ensue if they tried to take me to court over it. As for wheel clamping, that's never going to happen, they value the customers to highly regardless as to whether you've parked in the wrong spot.

So stuff 'em. We want special parking bays as a reward for those of us who have chosen not to bring some chavvy kids into this world (yet!).

what a stupid post

parent and child bays are larger because they need to be
it is very very hard getting a toddler in and out of a car in a standard sized space
i reprimanded a "lady" parking in a parent space a month ago at tesco in haydock. She told me to "get cancer and die"
nice

I park miles away from the store to avoid the dings etc, I'm always finding plenty of room either side of me. People that park at an angle in the bays should be fined too, thats a real pain in the backside.

The biggest pain is the leaving of trollies in the bay you lazy halfwit numpties, unfortunately I can't see that they could stop this.

You may well not need to pay that if it is a private company clawing at your wallet.

Its a bit like being fined for 'walking on the cracks in the pavement' isnt it - well as long as you didnt leave four foot between your door and the chap on your right! Still, could be cheaper than a ding!

I parked in a parent and child space a few months back. Cue busy body "Where's your family then?". "Already in the shop" I replied. She just shuffled off.

I usually say

'Don't f***ing ever talk to me again'

or

'I don't engage in conversations with scum'

to people like that.

Of course I don't park in breeder or disabled spaces either but the look on the faces of the busybodies is priceless when you say that to them.

Love the Jag vid as well, perhaps it could have been backed up by careful removal of all windscreen wiper blades and placing them at the side of the car?

Yes you can, on a 94 metro you can anyway!

He let the tyre down, drove 200 metres to the petrol station and pumped it back up!

The local multistory has a whole floor dedicated to disabled drivers, and the local rag ran a story cos people were complaining that it was way under used!
(average of 8 cars in a 70 car floor, over a week).

Are they over represented?

*flame suit on*
I am very glad to hear of their action towards selfish motorists who park in disabled bays when they are not entitled. I have to admit of course that it is of concern to me since I am classed as seriously disabled. The bays are put there for a purpose and it is shameful that able bodied people use them risking that a disabled person who really needs that space can't use it.

I am sorry that your mother is unable to get a blue badge despite her difficulty in walking as you say. I am sure you could appeal against that decision since the facility is provided for those who have difficulty in moving around.

It still does not entitle you to use one of those spaces however, but there is nothing to stop you from dropping your mother off by the door, which might even be easier for her and then you could park in a normal space. You could of course pick your mother up by the door when you have finished the shopping. I presume you are not disabled yourself.

The risk of "dings" in the doors as annoying as that is, also is not a valid excuse for using a disabled space when you are not entitled.

I hope you fall victim to many "car park management" companies inyour lifetime cos you ******* deserve it you tw@t!

FREE CAR PARKS FOR ALL SHOPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our local blockbuster doesnt have a carpark so EVERYONE uses the furniture store opposite. This store shuts at 5 everyday but has been complaining that customers cant park there cos of blockbuster custmers using all the spaces, (how many people go to rent a dvd before 5, not many i reckon cos were all at work). they used to cut off the entrance to the park at night with a big chain so no one could use it, but it was cut down twice cos it pi55ed everyone off.

So they got in a "car park management" company in to sort it out, and they took the chain down, so the park was open and people would use it, then when they were choosing a dvd at night, the ******* hiding away across thr road would spring into action and clamp your car, charging 80 quid to release it! This happened in the space of TWO minutes once while a guy returned a dvd and payed the late fine!

It pi55ed of so many people it was on the front of the local rag twice and the furniture store gets letters of abuse and has been boycotted to the point everythings on sale and they are closing soon!

The hiding clamper has been threatened more than once, and my mate actually let the tyre down on his birds car to get the clamp off, and drove off!
And told the clamper to watch his back cos hes p155ed of loads of people!

Why do companies like this exist? All they do is annoy people!
**** off and leave us alone!

Do you live in Macclesfield?

My stepson and his mates have offered to put that clamper's equipment somewhere more useful on more than one occasion

Allegedly

I always park in Tesco's parent and child places out of principle, especially if it's raining, because they're the only ones with covered walkways to them

Maybe Gordo has bigger fish to fry, but at least this is a step in the right direction. Welsh 1st Minister stands up for wehat we knew all along :

Drive for fairer parking fines

Mar 27 2008 by David Williamson, Western Mail
COUNCILS across Wales have been told to stop using parking fines to raise cash.

Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones yesterday announced “a new deal for drivers”.

From the end of this month local authorities should not use parking enforcement as a means of raising revenue.

The new framework does away with the setting of targets for the number of tickets issued.

Councils will gain the freedom to issue lower penalties for less serious parking offences.

Each will also have to ensure that tickets carry full details of how to appeal against the charge.

Councils will be encouraged to allow officers to give verbal warnings for minor contraventions. Cars should only be clamped as a last resort.

Les, not meaning to sound harsh but in the eyes of lots of disabled individuals you're not in the slightest "seriously disabled" from what I gather to be your case. You can walk and drive so you come way down the seriously disabled league table.

Yes your particular disability might be a right pain and inconvenience to you but whilst people self rank their disability then the genuine severly disabled get tarred with the same brush as either having a chip on their shoulders or being accused of thinking they are entitled to own a parking space without question.

A lot of disabled people (self cert) do nothing but harm for the genuine disabled, as I'm sure you'll agree.
