Can't fit the bike in the car now there's a cage in the way...
well that's my excuse and i'm sticking with it!

 

That's cos you keep arranging the meets when you should be out playing golf!

Didn't think I was going to be driving, so my weight loss was not an issue. or do you want the car to go faster this year?

 

No but i expect you to bit fit and strong for quick pit stops, tyres changes etc......(fetching bacon butties, coffee's....)

Well another busy day trying to fit the new drivers seat...
But thanks to some new brackets from YVM's friend, and a little fabrication this was the end result...

The seat is very comfortable and provides great feel and feedback through the car. however the car is quite narrow inside and the seat does fill it...



Also found time to fit a passenger seat too!

I see your seat is very very close to the B pillar just like mine is.

Running a seat with the head restraint is even more of a bugger due to it fouling the B pillar trim.

Ive moved my seat closer to the transmission tunnel a wee bit to ensure a good fit.

 

Yeah it's very tight.. TBH the seat catches the door...
Guess thats what happens when you get the fat boy version!
I couldn't move mine any further over to the tunnel, as the sliding mounts wouldn't have worked... the passenger seat is fixed.
Plus i had the issue of my head hitting the roll frame where the OEM seat was too high....

 

hope that passenger seat will be big enough for me at brands m8

Sorry Pete, the pasenger seat is the standard slim fit, maybe you could hang onto the cage in the back?

Only the drivers is the XL Lardy version.

Im fabricating mine using the OEM runners. Its a long and painstaking job. Measure, mock up, tack weld, trial,
re measure, re fab, re tack re trial.
re measure. re mock up, re tack, re trial blah blah blah lol.

Hopefully it will be worth it when im done. I want it to be a factory fit as possible.

The dash and roof vent put together was a walk in the park compared to this

 

Every day seems to bring more progress and more work trying to get the car ready for TA and also ready for the SIDC track day...

Well we managed to get more clearance fro both seats to the B Pillar and also mounted the FIA approved race harnesses.





And the good news is that the passenger seat has passed the Fat Boy test... both Neil & I fit!!! although it is a tight fit!!!

Then the next mod was to get the data the logger fitted...
this required some electronics to be produced, so that we could reduce the input voltage from the RPM signal to 5v.. but with the below work, it was a success (thanks Neil)


What will the data logger provide.???
Well it has a high precision GPS input, accelerometers for lateral and longitudinal G-Forces, analogue input for throttle position, rpm input and some very comprehensive software. So bottom line i can analyse every aspect of every lap on track, braking points, throttle usage, turning g-force, position on track, lap times, sector times and so much more (torque values, horse power values, etc.).

Here are some acceleration values taken yesterday on a very short run.

 

removing the front seat belts has got to save some weight too hasn't it?

 

yeah i agree, but two issues with this...

1) i would have to wear the harness every time i drive the car, and there not that easy to use....
2) Not entirely sure if the car is technically road legal with an aftermarket harness (even with FIA approved).

yes of course the data logging was done on private closed land, else we could not have recorded the 100+mph speeds.

'electronics', as can be seen it was hardly a complex circuit, but hell it worked so happy days!

 

I dont have belts in mine Mike, passed the MOT fine as they harness are E makrked and FIA approved.

If you use em everyday they become easy to use

i am starting to get a little concerned at how close you two are becoming
both in one racing seat at the same time is not healthy

Well the car goes into Zak tonight for the geometry set up ready for Brands.... Yes you did read right... TONIGHT....
He will sort the car after i fly home from germany....
Truly out of the ordinary service...
with a bit of luck, we may also look at the high level boost, as i'm only mapped to 1.7bar at the moment..
