Time Attack - ESC Race Car
Hi guys,
Well firstly let me thank and on all for your support and I will try to use this thread to update you with the progress of the car up to and during the Time Attack Series.
I would like to apologise for the delay in posting this, but firstly it was a very big decision to enter Time attack again this year. Not only due to the costs, but also the time involved. For those of you that don't know, I work in German for 4 or 5 days of the week, so it's difficult for me to juggle family life with a hobby/interest like this. This also explains why I’m not seen at too many meets.
Firstly I need to thank Neil (Yellowvan man), who has found him self designated team manager... Secondly Tiny & Phil who are helping out with contacting members and trying to organise a few bits and pieces to help make the ESC race car stand out this year.
MOCOM RACING - Where do I start???? Zak and of course Luke will again be looking after the car this year. Will be interesting as Zak is entering his own car . Zak helped me achieve the great results I achieved last year and helped me build a very capable and quick car. By no means did I give him the best components to work with or an endless budget, but with what I gave him, he has produced a stunning car, that will be developed further this year and I hope I as a driver can do it justice.
In many ways the spec. should remain the same, but with small improvements to handling and reliability, we should see the full potential come shining through.
ABW - Darren and I have had a few discussions and some items still need to be agreed/clarified. But I am proud again to have Darren on my side. With his help we hope to develop some special unique components that will aid in handling and ultimately performance. So watch out guys for the TA developed products available for all you Classic drivers out there
AS Performance - Some of you will know Alyn @AS Performance, he posts as "stockcar" here on SNET. He again has offered support and I truly value his opinion, as well as his support. Alyn will be helping out with certain consumables such as brake pads, roll cage foam, bonnet pins, brake callipers, etc. He helped me last year to source brake pads, disks, race clothing and not to mention my made to measure one off PINK ESC RACE SUIT. He is very knowledgeable on all things Scooby and will normally deliver off the shelf items as next day delivery at very reasonable prices. He advised me on Pagid RS29 pads and I honestly haven't looked back and can't think of a better all-round pad that I’ve tried.
I'm sure others will be added to the list and I will let you know the progress and additions as time passes.
Finally as mentioned by Tiny in his ESC lottery ball post, we are trying to make the car stand out. This includes Pit crew team clothing, as well as the design of the car graphics. All of which will be explained and revealed later, as and when the designs are finalised.
Well that's enough for now and I will start to post up the changes and intended mods. over the coming weeks.

Keep up the good work this year Mike....
Trust me, I know what working in Germany 4/5 days a week is like!!!!
It's hard enough as it is, without the pressure of TA
Glad to hear your doing it again and I know the Bibos will be there as we feel part of the team!!!!! (well my old intercooler pipe did!)
Good work fella!

All very well having an 800bhp lightweight car. However unless you have both the minerals to drive it properly and the ability to actually put that bhp to the tarmac.
I personally think that anyone with a well driven, well setup car with approx 450/450 isnt going to be particularly "off the pace".
Norris proved last year, that even with all the power in the world. It wasnt plain sailing.
Yes i know these cars are devistatingly fast but i think that will only really handycap you on some of the faster circuits.
Just get out there lads and drive your cars to the best of your ability, im sure youre all going to do very well indeed

Well Neil (YVM) & I started the first session of TA car preparations.
So today's work was to strip the car and fit a cage..
Some of the trim went back, till i can protect the raw edges of the body...
well next was the cage!
Also fitted was FIA approved padding for the cage. Supplied by Alyn (Stockcar) @ASP Performance Although this is quite hard, but I'm sure in a real impact will offer some decent energy absorbtion....
Still lots of goodies sitting in the garage waiting to be fitted, like a nice lightweight bucket seat!!! Supplied by Gary @APT
but still lots more to go!!

Yep, great to finally start to get on with this, but a bit worrying that of the 23 items we identified to be done before the first round, we have actually only ticked off two items, hopefully another 2 or 3 over the next day or two.
And there is now only 8 weekends until the first round!

But TBH this is still my every day car and having driven it today to the airport for work, i can say that it has finaly turned a corner...
I can't say i'm happy about that either, as the car has costs me a small fortune to get where it is and now i don't feel like i'm enjoying the ride....
I guess there is a lesson to be learned here about modding your car just too far!!!
i also want the opertunity to reverse some of the mods, shoudl i choose to sell it...
All that said, i can feel that the car will be awesome on track and i will also feel safer with the cage fitted...

Air con - not necessary.
Radio and speakers - you can't hear it anyways
Electric windows?
I'm sure there is more, but that will do for starters
What else can lose weight? Hmmmm.
And can I get the starret cutters out on the body panels?
What you need is a nice BMW to get to the airport in, I'll try to think of one that's not being used at present.
