Marijuana use. Thoughts please.
So its got to you already then!
By the way-don't for a moment think I infracted you-its not my style.
Thanks for the info Pete. I have to admit I don't speak from personal experience except for being so stupid as to get hooked on tobacco. Hope I kicked it in time. Mind you when I started there was no advice that it was dangerous.

Weed is **** all, its hard to get a quarter of nice green for 35 quid, bit i can get a gram of charlie delivered to my house in 20 mins (for 40 quid) and not have to pay for it till the next week
Which is the bigger problem?
Government need to sort priorities!

Well i have a friend (
) who is categorised in heavy/chronic usage and has been smoking it for 17yrs and heavy for 13 years. He has a family, holds down IT jobs for big firms around the country, travels, runs his own business on the side and people wouldn't know he did it, unless they met him. As he doesn't shy from people knowing.
It's all down the person. He doesn't even feel it's illegal after such long use.
I believe that kids of 12/13 shouldn't be smoking it though.
What would some consider heavy use?

Its like alcohol, the government statistics for heavy use are detached from reality! They say two bottles of wine a week is two much WTF, if thats the case were all alcoholics!!!
The gonvernment say two spliffs a week has a detrimental effect on your mental stability! BOLLOCKS!
I smoke about a quarter of decent green a week! usually 1 smoke at night mon-thurs, then a few more over the weekend!
Been like this for 10 years and feel fine!
If he was blazing an ounce a week i might be a little concerned, bit if its proper green with a high thc content i reckon thats hard to do if you have a job!
LEGALISE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it absolutely staggering that cannibis can be demonised when we freely seel alcohol and tobacco - Both of which are scientifically proven to be far, far more dangerous and far bigger killers.
Then sensible thing to do would be to legalise cannibis, thus improving the supply, able to regulate against inferior/dangerous product, and giving tax revenue to the government. But stuffy Middle England would never vote for it.

Must admit im a pretty frequent user but i would rather have a smoke with a few of my closest mates on a weekend than end up in a dribbling mess outside the kebab house. Can get a nice bag for £20 which easily lasts me a weekend or spend £70-£80 making a tw*t of myself through the beer.
And i have never ever had a craving for a cigarette when the weed has gone!
Just my 10p worth.

Why do stoners compare a few joints with mates to getting **** faced?
You can have a few beers with mates, or mess bout on a games console with a few beers.
Smoking all night grunting at each other with half shut bloodshot eyes doesn't sound like that much fun either.

Dont like it myself - makes you dopey and dozey; what fun!
Spot it in people at work - they come in dopey and dozy! Have had to let a few go after having a word didnt work. Dopey and dozy arent good words - much better to be had out there

It's like every debate anyone ever seems to get into, one group hold a certain view and use extremes to illustrate it, and the other side seems to follow suit. I have said before I personally don't like marijuana, but I have no problem with others who do. I only tried it a few times years ago, but it wasn't for me. However, I do like a drink to relax and wind down, or a bit more if I'm in more of a party mood. Yet, I can honestly say I don't go and just get smashed on booze and make a fool of myself, and have never caused any trouble while drinking.
Not everyone who likes a drink, then goes out and causes hassle and acts in a bad way, as not everyone who likes cannibis sits all night grunting at each other, or acting in any other way that the stigma which sometimes goes along with it's use would suggest.

If we all thought a bit more like this the world may be a better place, a little more acceptance along with a little less judgement. Unless a person is causing harm, live and let live.
Like most things, everything in moderation. A bit of weed eveynow and then is unlikely to have be too detrimental, though smoke it all the time and the chances of it having a negative impact are likely to rise.
Once a year at Silverstone for the GP, giggle ya **** off, then lay off again 'til next year. We've been doing it for years and no lasting effects- unless you count spending too much money on cars and not enough time with offspring

There is a lot of concern out there that the super Skunky stuff is causing mental problems in some long term users I heard? But as you say it hardly affects others/society as negatively as excessive boozers...

a relative of mine was a heavy user for about 10 years, he started at about 15.
he admits himself that it has had a lasting effect on his memory to such an extent he'll be chatting and half way through the conversation he'll have a moment where he all of a sudden he'll lose concentration and have no recollection of what his been talking about.

Smoked resin with tabacco a couple of times in the UK and latterly on it's own in NZ, very nice it was too. But that was about 7 or 8 years ago, not smoked since. Here in Australia, the Police are now testing for drugs use in drivers as well as alcohol. I feel that is a good thing.
