Diet drugs - anyone tried Reductil?

I've prescribed rimonabant (as well as orlistat and sibutramine) to my patients. All of them have a range of side effects, and efficacy varies from weight gain to weight loss on all of them, probably depending on how motivated the patient is. Sharting, suicide or being overweight, pick your poison 
My BMI is 33 so could I get my GP to suggest this (given that I take in under 2000kcal daily and also excercise) , or do I need to be a Discovery channel doc size
. I ask as I dont think I have the faintest asking my GP for this (and probably rghtly so?). We are both used to tweaking maps, so why not my own LOL

More research into tuning and tweaking:
"Sibutramine is an orally administered agent for the treatment of obesity. It is a centrally-acting serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor structurally related to amphetamines. One of the side effects is that it "delays ejaculation".
Isnt serotonin depletion what Colombia is famous for?
Well sounds like a loser for the fatties this one LOL

Yes I prescribe to the spec, although everyone knows BMI doesn't work in muscular patients, but I don't see many of those I prescribe more anti-obesity drugs than my colleagues because if I tell my patients to lose weight it only makes sense to offer them something to help. Dieticians on the NHS in my area now don't want people referred to them for simple obesity and simply leave a pack of leaflets for me to give out LOL. I usually offer orlistat first, and then it used to be sibutramine, now I just skip to rimonabant. The monitoring required for sibutramine was a pain for both the patients and me.
If you fit the criteria you mention, it is worth asking your GP if they are able/willing to prescribe. It will also allow them to take an overall view with you of other health improvements that are possible.

Thought I'd do the right thing and ask the GP about this whim (well not having been in his surgery in 6 yrs!). He told me to f off and whistle yesterday J (after what I thought was a good 'I'm not here to shop, but...' pitch) , whilst handing me a 5lb beige latex lookalike of what I have lost so far. Skinny young b@stard that he was...
I wouldnt have bothered him if I hadnt read the gudielines - shows some dont really believe the 'fat' is dangerous hype. He was more concerned about the ethics over the 'harm' of being overweight - and this in a very complicit and pro active (if impatient!) patient... Typical cocky young gym bunny that he was (been there too...have the pics...)
Should | try a different doc in the same practice you think?

I'm not sure what your GP told you, was it that he would not prescribe (did he give a reason?), that the practice won't prescribe, or that in your area they won't prescribe? It might be worth digging a bit further, even a phone call to the GP you saw to see if you can get what you're looking for locally or not?

Caffiene makes ephedrine "work" harder. Dont expect to sleep if you take the two together. You can get a lot done if you take a tablet and drink a cuppa before you start work though
As well as that, Ephedrine should not be taken more than three times a week, you'll develop a tolerence which means you'll need to take more for the same effect.

Worked for me.. I lost 5 stonne in 5 months by not being such a lazy greedy C**T. That was years ago.. still never put the weight back on.

Oh Yes T5's Do work But I only know one person who can get them for me and these days got be careful who buys them If you know what I mean and you dont want to get pulled over with them in your pocket.
I lost 2 stone with them in 2 months.

They made me feel a bit p***ed off but everyone gets differnt effects off them, Personally I lost my temper a bit too but I get grouchy when I dont eat but it's worth it for the results.

i had some a few years back when i was not so portly and di a bit of wieghts etc etc
to be honest, these thermogenic things i had just made me go mad, crap sleeping and lots of shouting
had a quick search for these T5 things and found what looks to be loads on ebay, with feedback to suggest they dont work lol

T5's on ebay are basic thermogenics. You need to have the right T5's 
Some people have success, some dont, however the people who dont have success and want to lose weight, tend to think they are a miracle cure and dont change their lifestyl. Its the old saying can help weight loss as part of a controlled diet
I lost 3 stone in 3 months on them and exercise (they gave me the focus for the exercise) I then reduced the exercise somewhat and maintained my weight. unfortunately over christmas weight has crept back on so its time to start again!!

they are a lot stronger than ephidrene. I have some ECA 30 (ephedrine, caffeine and asprin) and these are a high miligrammage, however they are no where near as potent as the T5's
