Well done for organising the day - shame there were some drop-outs but they were some incredible figures on show and certainly the highest average that I have ever seen at a dyno day.

Your car is a work of art Neil - a true credit to the countless hours of work you have put in to get it just right. Still plenty to do i am sure but you have got to be happy with the feedback from everyone seeing it in the flesh yesterday.

Why thank you Duncan.

I can't take much credit though for organising the day, it was simply my idea and Liz/Paul at Zen did the organising and as such deserve the thanks.

Looking forward to the next one...

I suppose I ought to close this thread off this year with an update:

The 2009 project thread will wait til the new year

For the time being I have been giving the car some TLC after a long hard year.

Last week I changed the ball joints and track rod ends as these were shagged. Alyn at ASP kindly got a set of the excellent Whiteline roll centre adjusted bits for me and they went on in time for the APT dyno day.

It was knocking like hell on the way up there (and back) so I tightened up what I could and left it like that. The geometry was well out also.

Went down to surrey recently to see a client - 300 mile round trip. On the way down I noticed the start of a metal clanking noise. Oh great another noise to add to the list..

Stopped off on the way back and managed to find a kerb to park the car on so that I had a little room underneath to check it out.... tightened all the ball joints, wheel nuts, track rod ends that I had replaced recently (again) - noise still there. hmm

Got home and by now it was horrid scrapey, rattley clanking so straight into the garage and up on a jack, wheel off and I noticed that the brake disc was loose on the bell. - could have been nasty I suppose.

The rotor had been replaced by me in july after the crash but i had to re-use the mounting bolts to mount the rotors to the bells as Performance Friction had not sent any over to Paul at Zen. They were all torqued up right at the time but must have worked loose

Anyway, out with the pads, off with the caliper and set about stripping the rotor and bell down - 34 bolts to remove to get the rotor off and then 34 new fixings to put on. Luckily PF had sent some new ones on to me afterwards.

This probably accounts for a lot of the noises from the suspension recently.

While I was doing this, I also tightened absolutely anything that had a nut or bolt to try and get rid of knocking noises - this worked - hurray

While I was on a roll I changed the oil (about blumming time and without any mess ) and changed from the squealey pads to general all purpose road PF Z pads. Much more like it

I also thought it would be good to re-do the wheel alignment using a take on Nige's method but this time involving a large piece of lap board (i knew they would come in handy) - seemed to work well enough to make the car drive straight and the steering wheel is now central which is a bonus ..... It will do til I can get to a garage and get a proper 3d check done.

Just rear bushes to sort out as these are knocking on the passenger side, I guess they took a bashing at oulton and are just starting to protest. New polybushes arrived for them and fitting this week.

It also ran on the dyno at APT for the BigPower.co.uk dyno day and recorded:

Running a 40% E85 / 60% Vpower mix still on the standard position MD321V Turbo.

Not long to go now .... the car is heading over to ABW ( autobodyworks Subaru Bodywork ) on the 23rd jan for a sprinkling of magic.

The plan for this is to make the car a tad wider using new widebody panels to give an extra 25 mm + track width each side for the bigger wheels/tyres coming for this year's TA.

After it is back from ABW, the new graphics will be getting done - they should make it stand out a little

Other work is being done besides bling though ... more details to follow on these but it will be concentrating around handling and losing weight whilst still retaining the daily driver status of the car

Are you just using different offset wheels to make up the extra track? Interested to know more...
