Sorry mate - not opening that hot potatoe up on this thread Believe me when I say that there have been examples posted elsewhere of people doing it to prove a point or to make cars look bad so that the garage gets to remap it.

Start a new thread please, unless Duncan wants his thread to expand by 2000 posts in the next 24hrs..... not relating to his project!

Anyway... back on topic.

Looks like your car is really starting to come together Duncan. I look forward to you taking me for a spin.

Cheers Shaun.

Have had a few issues today, with new arb and having to adapt the way that this is fitted, a small oil leak when on mentalist boost (2 bar +) from the turbo oil drain and some sizeable problems with track rods ends and ball joints. Hopefully no show stoppers for Sunday but really glad that I got the time to give it the once over and thanks as ever to Paul, Liz and Zen for the help today.

I hope Tim isnt as itchy as I am from wrestling that jubilee clip on

I thought I had a very minor oil leak coming from my return.... that was until we took the turbo off and found out what state it was in. Oil seals on the turbo it turned out to be..... if only that was the only problem.

These things are meant to try us!

probably stating the obvious but have you guys kept the factory spring clip type clamp thing on the oil return from the turbo?

I've used some braided hose and proper nipped up the jubilee clips at both ends on my rotated GT30R and haven't had any leaks.

Cheers

Daz

I had just the spring clip at the bottom and no clip at the top because the turbo has been off a few times now. Now it is properly clipped and will be fine.

Woop wooop

Awesome day at Snetterton for the final round of TA. I managed to qualify for my first final and then proceed to take another 0.5 seconds off that for the final to come in 11th even though I only did one hot lap.

Perfect weekend.

I will write a proper report, drinking myself silly is first priority

It was a great weekend and although i had a few minor issues with pad knock off during the day meaning i had to dabs the brakes before using them on the back straight and a car that ran rough as anything in the final after that first hot lap, it was a great result and I am chuffed to bits.

Huge thanks go to Paul and Liz from Zen for their support - it was incredibly reassuring to have someone there helping as much as he did, letting me know what was going on with the pit board and tweaking the suspension during the day to mean that each session I got quicker. The last change meant that a theoretical low 1.18 would have been possible if I hooked the sectors up but that wasnt to be.

Thanks also to Mark at Lateral Performance and for Steven Darley for helping with tyres, pit boards etc in the qualifying session to help get me through to the final. Where else but Time Attack would your competitors help you like this?

Sorry to hear of your issues Kev, it would have been good to get a clean sweep - maybe next year

Best of luck..... I have refused to open my wallet now, unless something breaks. After this week, that will be the development well and truly finished.

This is the end of this project thread and just time to say my thank yous:

Area 52 Autosport for all their work in getting the car built to spec and for support and advice. A few teething issues are always par for the course with so many changes at once but thankfully everything has come together nicely in the end.

Zen Performance for the huge amount of set up work and advice over the year and for going above and beyond the call of duty when I needed it most. In particular for their huge support over the last few months since the crash at Oulton and on event at Snetterton on sunday. The adjustments made by Paul during the day meant that the times kept reducing down as the car felt more and more driveable. Being around someone that calm and focused is contagious.

Alyn @ AS Performance for everything else - you have been extremely helpful and being able to rely on a supplier is worth it's weight in gold. It still amazes me that there are so few things that you cannot or do not stock.

Mark at Lateral Performance - for the support and for providing a truly great turbo. It was immense on sunday - loved the extra power The MD321V is a very nice package indeed !

..... and most importantly for the help, support, encouragement, ribbing, cajoling and general banter with fellow competitors and SN'ers - cheers.

I will be starting a new project thread for Time Attack 2009 - but for now it is time to reflect for a short while before starting work on prep for that. The improvements required have been fully documented and will take the package up a few levels 8)

Duncan,
This has been a good thread for people to gain insight in to the world of higher end modding and competition.

I remember my first year doing Time Attack (which seems like another lifetime ago now), and I appreciate only too well the stress and enjoyment (sometimes lol) that can be experienced....... even out our level, so christ knows what the top players go through!

Many people do not appreciate what it is like and what goes in to achieving things like this. Regardless of any negatives, the past three years for me has been an oppourtunity that not everyone will be able to experience first hand. For that I am grateful.

Wish you all the best for 2009.

The team spirit amongst competitors (pro and club alike) is unreal and makes it all the more emotional when you repay some of the help by doing ok.

I was very happy for everyone that beat me (the times some of them put in were mind blowing) and disappointed for those that suffered issues during the day or previous to this round and couldn't make it.

The step up from being quick at track days and having a quick car to competing in Time Attack is massive.... far greater than I thought it would be and it is moving on rapidly !! It has been great to develop the car and myself - both are steadily improving but still a long way to go.

Best of all, I have made some amazing new friends through it

I've really enjoyed reading this thread. It's nice to see how the car / driver imrpoves race after race.
Good luck in 2009.

Thanks Davey and Eureka - it has progressed through the season and I have learnt to drive it a bit more. Still lots to go on both fronts though

Naked .... For the first time in god knows how long, I hardly recognise it.

Time to get the bodywork repairs done and a few modifications for next year's project .... It will stay in stealth mode for a little while

Had it on the rollers today at Zen in the 22B 2.5 dyno day. Awesome day and some cracking cars.

I came away with the trophy with this result:

Pretty chuffed
