I've listed items for sale before and have had replies such as "that's more than it's worth" or "that's worth far more than you're asking" so I often list items for sale on here and ask for offers, that lets the buyer decide what they want to pay,if it's not as much as what I want then I tell them and it's upto them to make another offer or not !

Whatever people do on here will be wrong

Just last night a guy wanted £400 for a TMIC off an STI, a few posts saw him adjust his expectations to around the £200 mark. He wasn't greedy just not aware of how cheap they are now....

DunxC

P.S. I remember a guy wanting £250 for a std STI alloy, 'cos it cost £400.
What's a set fetch on here now ?

Asking top dollar for something on here means you'll get next to no interest.

Asking for offers puts the seller in the driving seat (way it should be). No one is forcing the buyer to purchase anything at all.

Seller knows how much they want to sell the item for and the buyer knows how much they want to pay. Very, very simple.

I think that not putting a price is actually a 'good' idea. People always offer less than the asking price which pisses me off even more!

(I do the same though )
Like Door Cards being worth 50 quid to one person, and 500 quid to another

Some people are here to make friends, others to make money. The only thing wrong with the transaction that you are referring to, was not insuring the shipment. Very silly when it was going all that way.

But hey, if someone wants to pay that amount for something, why should the seller refuse?

IMHO the seller has the responsibility to provide the price he is willing to sell the item for... thereafter everything becomes negotiable....

You don't open Autotrader to find EVERY single car up for 'offers'... so why do it here, my guess is the seller is waiting for someone (who's probably not experienced enough) to offer over the odds for the item...

All goods should have a price.... simple that way
