Just proves a point..... customer service is everything, having been in the motor trade for 20 years (thankfully not for the last 6) its not that common to be treated so well by a trader, yes there are good ones, but there sre so many horror stories around...... if you are lucky enogh to know a good one, stick with him....... well done Dave.

He can arrange delivery overseas, I'm sure.....I can break your clutch. Problem solved!

People sometimes PM me to ask why I rave about APi. Good example here!!

I cant be the only person, in this part of the country: who wants to know who the 'specialist' is, in order to avoid them at all costs.

Although Brum would be a bonus lol

Unfortunately, if the fitter is so adamant that the clutch / flywheel were faulty i wouldn't at all be surprised for it to come back to you damaged.
If it comes back to you in perfect condition then it will prove he was to blame for the problem, and the way he has been described doesnt sound like he'd want to let that happen

I have the bits David supplied in my possession now. They are due to be couriered back to APi on Tuesday.

I'm saying no more until David tells me a) what he found, and b) what, if anything, comment he wishes to make.

The guy that did the clutch knocked quite a substantial sum off the amount he charged me, (I was due to pay for TWO clutch changes, since he maintains it's not his fault), so I suppose I need to be philosophical about it.

Negatives.
Yes, I'm out some money. Yes, I didn't get the clutch and lightened flywheel I wanted. Yes, I was without the car for a couple of days.

Positives
No, I didn't lose a great deal, thanks in no small part to David at APi. I DID get A clutch and skimmed flywheel. I now have the car back and it drives nicely, so I assume clutch slip is gone, fingers crossed.

Bits not anyone's fault.(Well the Tories privatised the railways....)
I could have done without the 3 and a half hour train journey from the fitter's place to Scunny, cheers Northern Trains

Yeah, I saw your thread, you don't have a deal of luck, do you? Hope it's not too expensive.

There was a white classic broken down at the bottom of Kingsway, just after Berkeley circle at around 3pm yesterday too.

API should stay right were they are....

Was going to get them to do my clutch when it went pop (release bearing pulled out), but as they were booked out for a week I had to go elsewhere, although Steve at Northants subaru did a good job - no complaints
